GI JOE #20

Ripcord joins the series as he leads Scarlett and a team of Fobbits on a jump to a faraway tropical island. But it’s no day at the beach because Cobra owns this little slice of paradise and means to keep it. Also, Shipwreck and his crew of pirates in action against the Dreadnaught; Cobra’s gigantic submarine-cruiser. It’s a perfect storm of action and suspense!

  1. blows my mind that this series is so far down the pull list.  it is a great read more people should try this.

  2. I like the cover!

    YO JOE!

  3. Is that supposed to be Scarlet on the cover?  She looks like some kind of demon. What’s up with her eyes?

  4. @stuclach: If she had a red nose and was a little more pale, I would have said Ronald McDonald is jumping out of a plane.  Huh.

  5. @ctrosejr – Good one.

  6. The issue with Cover Girl and Tripwire was absolutely amazing. This serious is picking up some momentum now hopefully they don’t blow it.

Is the cover shown the Atkins one or the Shannon one?

  7. @wildkid:  The cover is the Shannon cover according to what I saw on IDW.com, personally I like the Atkins cover much more, its scarlett and team in the jungle.  That’s the one I will be buying for sure.

  8. This was a very solid issue.  It felt a bit like Queen and Country (though it wasn’t on that level).

I only had one real issue with it.  Snake Eyes was nearly beaten by a single Cobra agent and yet Shipwreck and his posse are able to take down two agents without a scratch.  Really?  Unless the agent Snake Eyes faced was actually Storm Shadow under that armor, that makes very little sense.

  9. This issue was great fun, and it was especially great to see Shipwreck, Torpedo, Wetsuit, Keel Haul and Deep Six. It’s just a shame it’s taken 20 issues for the Joes to take some initiative and for this series to feel like it’s going somewhere.

  10. Absolutely amazing issue.  It took to me a long to time read this, to re-read it and I loved every second.  The Joes are being used strategically and there character moments are coming in the other series like Hearts and Minds, Origins etc.

Chuck Dixon is creating a masterpiece!!!

  11. I would love to see a roster breakdown for the Joe’s, maybe with issue 25 or something like that.  Just to give me an idea who is in charge, and where everyone fits.
