  1. Dear Tony Daniel,

You are awesome, please keep up the great work. This series has been good since issue 1 unlike many of the disappointing comics that are out, (COUGH) A. v.s X…. stupid marvel.

  2. The cover for this is awesome! I have not been reading this because I’ve heard it’s horrible, but I might pick this up just for the cover.

  3. This is the decisive issue for me. If it sucks again, I’ll drop it.

  4. Jokers face. thats it.
    give me now!

  5. Seriously, what happened to the Joker’s face? Are we ever going to get that story resolved?

    • I’m with you on that. Why do you reboot an entire universe and then kill off one of the most popular villain of all time in the FIRST issue? I just hope there is more to the story than we know.

    • @IceWing: Who said he was dead?

    • I got a tweet from Scott Snyder that *hints* (just hints, could go any way!) the next arc on Batman will deal with the Joker.

    • That’s what I mean’t by “more to the story.” I’m guessing that it was just some look-a-like imposter or something to that effect.

    • An issue of Suicide Squad dealt with that story a little but didn’t answer the many questions that I still have, basically Harley Quinn was trying to figure out what happened.

  6. Anyone see the T-shirt of Joker’s face? It’s creepy.

  7. This is one killer cover and no I have not seen the T-Shirt, I did’nt even know they had them out. I will be on the look out for it, sounds like a pretty good gimic and a good way to build up the return of Joker soon to the DCU!

    K

  8. So close to dropping this title.

  9. I was getting close to dropping this title as well but they have me for another month, this one was a step up from previous issues.

  10. I too am close to dropping this, but I see that T. Daniel is not on art chores so maybe if he just concentrates on the writing it will improve.

    • I actually didn’t mind this issue. A solid 3.5 to me. Hopefully Daniel can just just stick to the writing and get that sorted out as I enjoy Benes’ art so hopefully they keep him on.

  11. Ugh. I had to flip through this a second time to remember if I’d even read it. For some reason I want to stick around, but I have no idea why. If Daniel stays off art duties, that will be a step in the right direction (for my tastes, at least).

    • The reason I haven’t dropped it yet is because of the title…Detective Comics…If it wasn’t that, I would have dropped it.

You expect DC to put out the best Detective Comics they can…heh

  12. Is it me, or is this the worst Batman title out right now? I just don’t dig this. And now I’m 10 issues in. Have I given it a fair shake?

    • It’s not just you. I haven’t been reading The Dark Night but out of Batman, B&R, DC, and Bat Inc. this has been the worst of the bunch. It started off strong and has gotten worse each issue since the end of the first arc.

10 issues is a fair shake. Join me in dropping it after this issue 🙂

  13. That’s supposed to be DC’s namegiving flagship-title. How can it be, that they let it run down like this. All the “before Watchmen” miniseries were given in the hands of serious writers and artists. Why don’t they do that with their premium title. That’s the big question for me.
I hope that there will be a takeover soon enough, so that I don’t have to drop the title.

I really liked this issue; for some reason it reminds me of those old Batman stories from the 50’s where he used to fight aliens and he would become invisible, or electric, or submarine, or gained strange abilities. I’m intrigued about the Mr. Toxic/Gas Man name change; I wonder whether they realized too late the many jokes you can make with Mr. Gas.

It all started with a celebration. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes gathered for one more anniversary of their first coming together. Tony and Wanda reminiscing older times, the guys at the poker table, Natasha playing the piano, and a long gone ally finally returning home. Then, a murder at the doorsteps of the mansion, an unlikely witness, and an even more unlikely perpetrator; sadly for everyone, there would be more deaths before the night ended. So began “The Crossing.”

  15. Sorry about that post above!

  16. Disappointing issue.

Worst Bat-book I currently buy, and if next issue is like this one, I’ll move my $4 to something more satisfying.
