  1. Brian Wood is amazing…this is one of the first books I read when it comes out

  2. I am loving this book! And Vasilis Lolos does some really cool looking stuff, can’t wait to see it.

  3. Where’s Becky Cloonan?, I jumped back on with this arc because she was on art duties, 2nd issue in and she’s gone. Downer!!

    • Every issue of this series has been great, don’t be so quick to jump off board due to an artist switch, it’s starting to look like Brian Wood is getting the caliber of artists that Mark Waid gets on his Daredevil book where even his switched out or “fill-in” artists are super great. James Harren was awesome, and Vasilis Lolos has done great work too. Plus Dave Stewart has stayed on the book to keep each issue looking consistent, plus he makes any artist look awesome.

    • Agreed. Pretty cool that Wood’s work has artists seeking him out.

    • Yep, I’ll echo TexasZombie and Urthona. So far this book has only had wonderful art, and the story just keeps getting better. Stick around featheredgothic.

    • Well, I can’t stick up for the art in this issue. It wasn’t terrible, but man, the faces were very strange. I don’t know if it’s a style thing, or what, but it wasn’t to my liking.

    • What he said.

  4. Vasilis Lolos does a nice Cimerian landscape, but boy is his Conan rough. he looks like a bad Michael Jackson impersonator. yeesh.

    ok issue.

    • I agree, his landscapes are decent (though they all look the same after a while) but the faces he draws are completely expressionless, and his Conan looks like a bug-eyed alien.

  5. Wood has ruined this series, making this character unrecognizable. Emo Conan is not true at all to Howard’s vision.

Soon Wood will have him wearing a hipster neckbeard and hanging out at SXSW. Pathetic.

    • Tell you what, breh: Go ahead & drop the title, & I’ll message you when the neckbeard shows up, so you can just pick up that issue & boil with precious, precious fury… Seriously though, I understand not liking someone’s take on a character, but if so, why are you still buying it 8 issues in? This isn’t X-Men continuity here, & I’m pretty sure Wood isn’t going anywhere until the title ends at, like, issue #35. That’s $120+ going to something you obviously hate…

    • Based on what I’ve heard, previous Conan comics were much further from Howard’s Conan than this is. Aside from the unfortunate art in the new issue, this Conan seems pretty close to Howard’s character to me.

    • Who are you to lecture FPL to drop the book because he doesn’t like the direction? I thought the idea of forums was to post their opinion of the book…

    • Y’know what? I was being snide, because I was feeling defensive of something I’m loving — and maybe you’re right; that was kinda BS on my part… But I also really am curious why FPL keeps buying a book that he slams here every month. If he wants to keep on, that’s cool; I’m sure the title needs any readership it can get. I just don’t understand the motivation of dropping cash on something you fundamentally don’t like, when it is very obviously not going to change into something you might like. Is the appeal that you get to bash it every month?

  6. I am going to stick with this book because I like where the story is going but this art is nowhere near as good as Cloonan’s in my opinion.

    • Yeah, it was a bit rough.

    • And by “a bit rough” you mean “terrible”. I can’t imagine how BW’s heart dropped seeing upon seeing this. It’s downright bad. If an artist has difficulty drawing faces, why are they assigned to a high-profile book? Ugh.

I’ll keep collecting it but I was really disappointed to hear Cloonan’s off, and then this issue was just a kick in the ***.

  7. Conan has huge puppy-dog eyes…kind of odd for a Barbarian.
