  1. Pak and Van Lente’s tale has been masterful so far, and I especially love that the story was just as entertaining and engaging when Hercules wasn’t a part of it. This seems to be an epic culmination of a few plot threads that have been hanging around for awhile, so I’m highly looking forward to this.

  2. Prince of Power was great. I hope that this is just as good.

  3. I’ll give it a try.

  4. Ok, I’ve heard the Van Lente lovers talk about his work with Herc for a long time now. I’m jumping on here (I was years late on the DnA awesomeness, hope this proves to be a fraction as awesome as DnA’s underappreciated cosmic work)

  5. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Herc is back and he brought back the GOD SQUAD!

The previews show some really incredible artwork by Pham. Looks so much better then the issues he did in the very early days of Incredible Herc. Can’t wait for this issue.

  6. I want to pick this up.  Any pre-requisites?

  7. @cutty: To be honest I’m not sure if you need to read anything before hand. Lente/Pak usually can do any story arc (no matter how big or small) and make it easy for new readers. If it were up to me, and it isn’t, I’d say you should read everything…..But in reality do read the Secret Invasion tie-in because it introduces the villain and concept of ‘God Squad’ for this mini.

  8. Gonna finally start buying Herc stuff starting with this.

  9. I was gonna pick this up in trade but after listening to the Don’t Miss…I think I’m gonna get the issues

  10. I’m picking this up because I liked the art and it has Thor in it. See, I’m not that hard to please.

  11. It definitely feels like you need to read the previous ‘Prince of Power’ mini to get the beginning of this. I was lost for sure, because I didn’t know why Herc was so crazy. Getting past that though; this was a lot of fun to read. Some unevenness with the writing but overall it was good. I did love the observation from both heroes and civilians that coming back from the dead is no big deal. The art by Pham is really fantastic too; a bit sketchy but it has a Romita Jr. feel to it. Back up was a bit so-so; but it also had great art as well.

Overall a good start to this event, but I’m still seeing some iffy writing like I did with ‘Assault on New Olympus’.

    3.5/5

  12. Psssh, like I had any doubts about this. I got into the Herc game late (around the arc where Amadeus met that girl), but after catching up, I’ve been amazed with how damn continuously entertaining Pak’s and Van Lente’s story has been. From World War Hulk through Assault on New Olympus and into Prince Of Power, this epic has inspired wonder and intrigue out of me. It truly has everything.

And now we come to this huge chapter, and it started out with a bang. Herc’s return was just as epic as his demise, and we get to see a new side to Pham’s pencils. I always thought his art was kinda bland, but here, its more vibrant and alive than ever. Without a doubt, his best work.

The backup was fun too, as not only do we get an introspective look at Herc, but we see a new side to Athena’s “betrayal”, which has already been intriging up to this point.

Overall, a hellova slam dunk issue.

  13. I’ll page through it before I decide. Khoi Pham is a very hit or miss artist.

  14. Fun. That’s pretty much the best description for this book.

So is Trauma depowered now or the new lord of Nightmares?

  15. The Twitter interaction at the end was hilarious.

  16. I’ve never read any Hercules, but I decided to give this issue a shot.  The story was exciting…and I really liked the art.
