  1. I’m not reading this book but I wanted to comment on what a simple, beautiful cover this is. It feels like a poster for a lost Fritz Lang movie or something. Elegant without being gimmicky and striking without being flashy.

  2. I really want to start reading this, but I’m afraid the minute I start getting hooked in to the story, the next arc will be the return of Dexter Soy…

  3. I think Dexter Soy is done, which means I’m back. I’m actually excited about this book again.

  4. Cover looks decent — and Carol looks better in black than in blue. I still wish she’d wear something closer to her iconci outfit over this generic turd.

  5. Can’t complain about Rios and Andrade, both terrific artists, but personally I really like Dexter Soy’s take on the character.

    • Yeah, I think Soy really grew into the title. But I suspect people wouldn’t have gotten so down on Dexter Soy if the promo art for the series had been a bit more like his interiors. I like Jamie McKelvie and Ed McGuinness, but if their promo art was what got someone to try the book, I could see how Soy’s interiors were a big turn-off.

    • Admittedly, I didn’t read Soy’s last two issues, the ones after Rios. I have heard his art was much better in those. I’ll see if my LCS still has copies of those when I pick up 9. What prompted me to get Captain Marvel was DeConnick’s issues of Avenging Spider-Man, so I was expecting a much more straightforward super hero title both in writing and in art. Can’t fault them for my expectations, I guess.

    • @KenOchalek I agree. Just imagine this as #1 cover: http://bit.ly/Oxw5s5

      It would have been perfect.

  6. Cant put my finger on it, but my interest in this book is waning a bit after starting out strong

  7. Jumped on for the Photon guest appearance. Really dug the title, art included. Might stick around for this.

  8. big fan of old Ms. Marvel especially her series from few years back, written by Brian Reed.I thought that series was well done, first 30 issues were great. How does this new series compare?

  9. Wow – the art on this issue just alienated me … I couldn’t bring myself to buy this issue.

And I wanted to come back to the title, too …

  10. Yes, great cover, though.
