CAPTAIN AMERICA #609

Bucky must return to the place where his life once ended as Baron Zemo continues to rip his life apart. It’s the hardest hitting arc of Captain America ever by the awesome team of Ed Brubaker and Butch Guice.

  1. I need to go back and read the first 25 issues to be reminded of how great this book was.  C’mon, Bru!

  2. Man I hope the art is better than last issue. That was just…bad. Like really really bad.

  3. The $4 price is hurting on this. But the Baron Zemo moments kind of make up for it.

  4. The ending of the last issue was really strong. I think this has the potential to be the best issue of this book in a while.

  5. This book came back in a big way with this arc. After the atrocity that was the "Evil-Cap" arc, Bucky vs. Zemo has been a blast on every level, and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down. POW contender for sure.

  6. as I remember, I had very mixed feelings about the art in the backup.  I’m hoping this issue sways me at least one way or the other.

  7. The crumminess of the NOMAD back up leaves me so mad. What’s up with that?

  8. I know, Nomad goes on and on….they should subtitle it "Because no one demanded it..!"  Why not a Falcon or Squire story?

  9. Quietly dropped this book.  Bought it since #22, read everything before it, stopped liking it on #27.  Wow, I pulled a Ron there by clinging on too long. 😉

  10. This books still down from it’s pre-reborn quality, but i am definitely rooting for a come back. If anyone can do it, Cap can.

  11. Went from trades to single issues with this arc and it’s been a fun ride.  The art hasn’t always been the best as Guice has been showing off his influences from Streranko to Kirby to Colan, but when it works (like the aforementioned Steranko section) it really works.  Yeah the Nomad backup sucks, but really it’s a backup so eh!

  12. holy shit! everything about this issue was awesome.  including the backup.

  13. Loved this. Judging by the past few issues, if Guice is gonna pencil this, Magyar should ink it. I really just want this book to get a consistent art team for a solid run.

  14. Loved the Captain American storyline. Zemo is getting better and better. The backup was written well but the art in it is starting to really bug me.

  15. @Minion- I have to disagree.  I’m actually liking that art.  it’s different, but very kinetic.  I like it more and more each issue.

  16. @ABirdseysView I would have agreed after the first issue of it but last issue It started to bug me and this issue I started to dislike it. I can live with it though. Its not like I hate it.

  17. With Paul Mounts now coloring, this book’s visual style seems to
Be back on track, but can we please get a consistent inker on Guice? There were a bunch of great pages in the begining (I hate the way he draws Black Widows hair) but towards
The end an obvious inker change made the art go downhill

  18. I’m starting to really enjoy this book again. This arc has gotten better every issue.

  19. Why would they even care when Steve crushed that guy’s hand, the dude just tried to kill them, and clearly they knew he was one of Zemo’s henchmen.  That was some misplaced and unnecessary concern right there in my opinion.

  20. Great issue, feels very classic even though Steve isn’t Captain America here.  I wouldn’t mind paying $4 at all if the back-up were better.  Something like a Falcon story, a Black Widow story, or even the one-millionth WWII Cap and Bucky story would be sweet…but this craptacular Nomad stuff has got to go!
