  1. Finally the beginning of the end. I have overall enjoyed season eight, but I think once this finishes I’ll be done with Buffy. As you can tell by my name it hurts me to say so.

This might not be the forum for this (I’m not on any other message board/forum etc), but I have been disappointed by the actions of the Dark Horse editoral team. "Accidentally" releasing the image of Angel as Twlight before the story was meant to, claiming that IDW knew Angel was being used, and recently announcing Angels move to Dark Horse before IDW had a chance to comment. There has been to many behind the scenes problems coming to light, and it has got in the way of the story being told. Rant over, thank you.

Though, as with most comic fan rants, if a killer creative team is assign Buffy 9 or Angel at Dark Horse the above rant might be moot. But at the moment this is my feeling.

  2. once this season is done i’m sticking to trades

  3. I dropped this from DCBS so I’m still due another couple issues…. I’ve lost all interest and I’m a huge Buffy fan.  Same thing with the IDW Angel series, bothhave been VERY weak for a year or so….

  4. Is it just me or is that "last gleaming" text the same text that is used for the twilight covers?

  5. @Ruo21 Yeah, it is.

  6. The cover is also very obvious copy/tribute to the New Moon posters: http://www.shockya.com/news/wp-content/uploads/new_moon_official_poster.jpg

  7. And with this issue we return to this book being a big mess. I won’t be back for season 9.

  8. I agree Conor, I was hoping with Joss back it would return to greatness but no such luck.

  9. @ Conor/Jediaxle

Really? I don’t think anyone does it better than Joss. I was digging it (after not digging it for a while). My only nitpick is that no one seems to be able to get Angel’s voice right. He was a man of so few words in both series, in the comics he’s all talk. He even speaks in Buffy-talk which I’m not ued to from him.

  10. So is Angel season 6 going to replace the IDW After the Fall stuff? So they’re going to do their own resolution of what happened after Angel Season 5 in Dark Horse ?  Or will the IDW stuff still be valid and DH will continue the story from where IDW is leaving off?

  11. I have no idea what’s happening in this series anymore. It started off so well but the story has lost all focus as it’s gone on.
  12. I dug the hell out of this, but I’ve been a huge Buffy fan since the start of the TV show.  Before this issue I re-read the entire Twilight arc and maybe it’s just me, but I’m on the edge of my seat.  I like how big the scope has gotten, and how Whedon has embraced the comics format to tell a story he never could’ve told on TV.   I love having Spike back in the mix, as well.  I’m hoping the new Dark Horse Angel series is going to address that future Spike & Angel appeared from.

  13. This issue was really a mess. Too crowded, too Bendis-y, too much trying to cram in high concepts but making fun of them at the same time. The disembodied voice jokes don’t quite work in comics – or at the very least – weren’t properly executed. But we’ll see where it goes. RIght now, though, this all seems very amateurish.

A few complaints I’ve seen have likened the issue to seeming like Whedon handed in a draft copy and Scott Allie had to do clean up dialogue.

@IronCladMerc There seem to lines in this issue that do rather blatantly contradict After the Fall. (There is one rather specific reference to the Season 5 finale that set off my red flags.)

  14. I loved this but i have no idea why spike is on a ship full of giant bugs. I read the After the Fall series and dropped Angel when Lynch left. haven’t read anything from IDW having to do with angel or spike since. can someone explain the bugs to me

  15. @Roi As far as I know they’re an invention of Whedon for this story and key dialogue in the issue points to Whedon doing a complete re-do of Angel post-Season 5 once it comes to DH next year.

  16. @Prax  God i hope not, it’s hard enough to talk about Angel as it is without having two alternate takes on what happened after season 5
