The deadly super-spy from IRON MAN 2, INVINCIBLE IRON MAN and CAPTAIN AMERICA in her own ongoing series! Natasha Romanoff is not a super hero. She’s not psychic. She doesn’t fly. And yet as the Black Widow, she manages to hold her own against a world of incredibly powerful enemies…and allies. But now someone has tried to kill Natasha…and almost succeeded. Injured gravely, almost beyond her ability to recover, Black Widow sets out to find her attacker…with no suspects and no leads. Who could be deadly enough to get the drop on Natasha? And what connections do they have to some of her closest super hero friends…? Plus, a backup detailing the deadly history of the Black Widow!

  1. Now that Ms. Marvel is cancelled I’m not reading any solo-heroine comics from Marvel. (Wait a minute…are there any??)  I’ll check this out in the shop.  Sometimes Acuna puts me off, we’ll see what it looks like.

  2. I’m definitely gonna check this out. I’ve not read anything by Liu yet, but some reviews of her other work (X-23) have been pretty positive.

  3. I saw a preview and it looked pretty good.  Black Widow is actually better as a solo book than part of a team, I’m hoping this works, I loved the character in the Richard Morgan/Sienkiewicz/Parlov/Phillips two mini-series that came out 2004-2006.  The really old "mini" from George Perez in Marvel Fanfare was also pretty cool for its day.

  4. @zattaric: Ms Marvel and Spider-Woman were both cancelled. There’s always a couple of miniseries like Savage She-Hulk and Pixie Strikes Back, but I can’t think of any other ongoing solo superheroine Marvel titles. Is Spider-Girl still going?

@Urthona: I loved those two Richard K Morgan Black Widow miniseries!

  5. Acuna did those Spider-Man/Spider Woman pages in New Avengers a couple issues ago, right?  Look’s like I’m going to pass on this, then.

  6. Any idea who’s after Natasha?

  7. I liked this issue quite a lot – felt very street level and raw.  I liked the way the attack Natasha and subsequent operation was staged, puts you right there with her.  Daniel Acuna’s art has really grown on me – didn’t like it too much in his rceent Emplate arc on X-Men, but it suits the mood here.

@AquaPimp82 – No idea, thought there was going to be a big reveal and was denied.

  8. I was really impressed by this issue.  I’m in, at least for this first story arc.

@Selfstyler  I was apprehensive about Acuna’s because I hadn’t cared for his run on X-Men Legacy either, but his art worked in this book.  I actually really liked it.

  9. My question is how DC is able to make successful super-heroine comics, but Marvel always falls short?  Seems like a plethora of characters to choose from, you’d figure they would at least have one big hit…

  10. Good read. I liked the Acuna art. Was dissapointed that we didn’t get a little more info at the end, but I’m on for at least the next few issues.
