  1. Im gonna check this out. Anybody read anything that Hudlin has done before?

  2. His name is Reginald… you can’t go wrong with a name like that.

  3. There’s too many new series coming out. Might check it out in the store, but never been a big BP fan.

  4. hmmm i might check it out in the store idk other than that.

  5. I wish Jason Aaron was writing this title. His Black Panther was basadd!!

  6. Didn’t Hudlin write most of the crappy first Black Panther (that saw Storm and Invisible Woman standing back like cheerleaders while Hercules smashed Big Bad Clor during Civil War?)

  7. This is so awesome the Black Panther turned into a babe and T’Challa is gone missing and a babe decided to take his place I just hope some of his old enemies like Klaw, Achebe, or Baron Macabre will make a guest appearance in this Marvel Comic Book.

  8. Black Panther…2? Really?

I’m gonna pick this up and if somewhere in the book it is particularly written a line like:

    "Watch out, Black Panther 2"

Then I’ll go Christian Bale on Hudlin…not really, but you get the idea.

  9. I absolutely loved Christopher Priest’s BP, but I’ve never been able to get into Hudlin’s stuff.

  10. is it me or is Ken Lashley the 2nd coming of Jim Lee?????? Loved Aaron’s 3 issues which made me curious enough 2 pick this up. But as soon as Lashley leaves, i probably will too.

  11. Marvel made a character named Achebe..? And made him a villain..? And made him an enemy of THE FREAKING BLACK PANTHER???

    /facepalm

  12. I’ve like the Written from Hudlin and Aaron on BP so far.  I didn’t think this series needed a new #1 but that’s okay.  As long as they don’t drag out the reveal I think it’ll be good.

  13. This really pissed me off.  After an annoying amount of advertising (though thankfully not as much as Agents of Atlas) asking the question "Who is the New Black Panther?", the response is…you have to wait "Here read this lame excuse for a first issue and wait another month."

It was bullshit, Fuck you Marvel.

  14. Better than I thought it would be. I got my dose of Doom.

  15. @ AlanRob my feelings exactly. I still don’t get why we need a new one?

  16. @voodoomama: So Marvel can put out a #1 issue with a $3.99 price tag. If nothing else, they are business savvy.

  17. I think Marvel wants to keep this franchise in print and since the series had been experiencing poor sales this was an attempt to jump start things with a new #1 and a new hook with a changed status quo.  These gimmicks rarely work in the long run regardless of quality, and when you keep the same writer that wasn’t drawing a large enough audience in the first place it’s even harder to imagine it surviving.  Personally, I’ve found Hudlin’s writing to be a bit flat, with many of his characters not having very unique or interesting voices.  Therefore, I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed reading this issue.  I don’t care how long it takes to reveal who’s picking up the Panther’s mantle as long as I’m enjoying the story as much as I did with this issue.  And Scott Campbell’s cover for issue #2 or 3 has Dr. Doom wearing a belt with a big "D" belt buckle.  How fun/goofy is that???

  18. =| I’m so biased when it comes to this new look on the Black Panther line up… mostly because of how I tend to just love this variant cover and the other one of the new black panther. God… it’s so hawt… is that wrong? = hurm… (note to self… need therapy?)
