  1. Looking forward to seeing this. Nico is likely my fave on this book so far. A natural leader and hero!

  2. First, Game of Thrones. Now, this. I am so fucking bummed out this week and I do it to myself. Great issue!

    • I don’t think this ending was quite as definitive as GoT — I could be wrong of course, but I’m hopeful that Nico’s spell worked.

And it was interesting to see Burchielli on something that isn’t DMZ. He’s not an artist I would have thought of for this book, but I thought his style worked pretty well here.

    • Yeah, I’m sure it’s not quite as final as GOT, this being Big 2 comics we’re talking about after all, but it’s still pretty emotionally effective. I never thought I would be this emotionally invested in a Marvel book.

Also, Burchielli’s art was really good. He’s been the best fill-in artist on the series so far.

    • I dunno, guys. So far, that Life-Meter has been pretty dependable. And I agree; great issue. It’s interesting how Arcade has gradually changed from being the villain of this series to the catalyst of the story. The real villains & heroes are the kids.

  3. I whinced when I saw the compound fracture, and couldn’t really focus on the panels with Nico in such bad shape. Bad things happen to good people, and man the art really sold it. This title continues to impress, and has been such a pleasant surprise.

  4. For a series with a premise which I still don’t accept (i.e. why these hero kids started attacking each other) and characters which I still find confusing (I have to study that first page schematic every issue) I am amazed at how much I am enjoying AVENGERS ARENA. Hopeless and Burchielli have done a remarkable job.
