Firstly, this title really suffers whenever Walker has to take a break to presumably get a head start on a new arc. The fill in artist isn't bad by any means, but Walker is just so good for this book, it is almost always a pretty big step down when he has a fill in. Now that we have the art side out of the way, the story in this issue was, lacking, between some strange pacing and awkward characterizations it might be my least favorite issue so far. While I understand that characters are going to die in this series, I feel like we really didn't get enough Nico Centric issues for the level of popularity that the Runaways characters hold, that is of course assuming that she is dead, which I am, because even though she says "help" in the spellcasting text on the last page, judging by last week's Previews Catalog, that spell is just going to Alert Hank Pym that the kids are trapped somewhere. As a final note, with the prevalence of the health bars and the next teased arc being called "Boss Level" my original prediction as soon as I read that Arcade was the bad guy of "It's a videogame" is beginning to seem more and more likely. On a final note I really have not liked any of Hopeless' Original characters for this series so far, and feel that they really should have just been relegated to the Meat Filled Socks that they are.
