ATLAS #4

At great price, one of the Echo People are captured! Now the Agents of Atlas and 3-D Man know who is coming after them and why, but that doesn’t make the invaders any less deadly. The only chance for these heroes and the whole planet is to go deep behind enemy lines… with little chance of return.

  1. Wha’ happened!? How does a book disappear into a handful of miniseries to take marketing advantage of the Avengers/Xmen name, return shortly thereafter, then get cancelled right away?? Why the sudden return, then? And does anyone know what the last issue will be? I will miss it, until the volume three (4 counting the original mini?) is solicited in a few months.

  2. Cuz folks don’t support.

Last issue is next issue I believe.

  3. Yep, it ends at #5.  The book wasn’t technically cancelled, but it was on the bubble and Parker decided to end it rather than have Marvel cancel it

  4. Yeah, geez.  Perfect comic.

So sad that it’s almost over.  I would actually much rather read the about the alternate history that shows up at the end than I do the current Marvel U.  Not griping about modern continuity, but saying that Atlas has wonderful roots from the 50’s monster and sci fi stuff that would be great flavor.

  5. @ktino: you shouldn’t have said ‘continuity’.  Now there’s going to be 200 comments in the next day…

  6. I’ve always enjoyed Atlas. I didn’t pick up the minis. I figured i’d get back on with the reboot. Guess I’ll pick up those minis now.

  7. I will miss this series but if I’m being honest, I’ve thought this arc has been a little weak.  Maybe I’m just not feeling the 3-D Man.  There’s also been a lot of exposition that’s pulled me out even though I think the plot Parker’s pulled together is pretty cool.

Still, there were plenty of cool moments in the issue and I thought the twist was neat.  It was also cool how it was split into two parts.  Old school.

  8. Too many Avengers and X titles, I guess. It’s a shame, because this was a wonderful series. I hope it can return as a periodic (maybe annual) mini-series.

  9. Yeah, I’m gonna miss it too. I really liked this issue. I agree with stasisbal’s points.

  10. Wow, great issue, awesome extra-dimensional concepts, and the art is top-notch in my opinion too, very Michael Lark-ish, will look forward to the next and apparently the last ish, unfortunately, and maybe I’ll check out the first 3 issues of this series that I passed on now.
