  1. This series has been awesome. Joe Kelly is brilliant. Hopefully Madam Spider gets the axe in this one.

  2. Yeah this has been brilliant, can’t wait to see how this plays out

  3. I am excited for this.

Last issue was a bit of a blimp, but now Spider-man is on the war path I am hoping for a satisfying conclusion to the Gauntlet.

Hopefully Spider-man will realise the Kravens tried to wear him down but he’s still stronger then them. I know it’s been a very dark arc, but I hope Peter comes out of it more confident as Spider-man.

  4. Heres hoping that this issue can be an improvement over the last one.

  5. This, to me, has been the best Spiderman series in the last several years. Nothing compares to the story/art combination. Genius…

  6. Joe Kelly’s work on Spiderman has been nothing short of brillant.  Loving this arc!

  7. Good stuff.  So what happens after Gauntlet concludes?  Joe Q comes back and Spidey and MJ get hitched again?

  8. @Trichon – I think Kelly is my favorite Spider-Man writer. Admittingly, I don’t have as much history with Spider-Man as others, but Kelly just gets it right.

  9. @Grandturk I don’t get the impression Marvel is ready to re-hitch their Spider-fellow. I think OMIT is supposed to explain the mysteries surrounding the reboot. I doubt they will fully undo the Mephistotlean Deal until the book hits some serious bumps in the road and they need something new to draw in the fans.

  10. @Grandturk

I don’t think Joe Q will ever undo OMD. I almost wish they’d pretend it never happened rather than try to explain it with OMIT.

  11. Hot damn!

  12. Good conclusion. Grim Hunt made me a Spider-Man fan again. Joe Kelly should be the regular writer.

  13. Read this and 636 tonight and this story failed to grab me.  It’s neat where all the characters wound up but I lost interest after the first issue.  Not a regular ASM reader but I stuck around after picking up Shed (which I loved).  I think that’ll be all for now.  I’m certainly not picking up OMIT, not too concerned with learning more about that story.

I do give them props for value this issue, a lot of content in it.

  14. This changed my outlook on how good spiderman could be… awesome.

  15. This was fantastic. Pick of the Week

  16. I’ve been reading comics forever, started with Spider-man as a kid, but hadn’t picked it up in eons.  Grim Hunt was so acclaimed it made me by an issue, which turned into all 4.  Really good stuff.

  17. I didn’t read any of the back up material.  Just didn’t appeal to me.

  18. Story was awesome. I had never read any of the mystical spyder stuff and I didn’t know if I’d like that side of the Spider-man mythos but it dragged me in. The art by Lark was great but when you could tell they had to get some extra help to finish it it really took me out of it which is the only thing keeping this down. Nonetheless, 5/5. Epic, Mr. Kelly, epic.
