  1. One of my favorite Marvel Comics as of late. I’m very happy that we got the pretty-much flawless story, but I think I speak for everyone else in that I severely wish that there was going to be more.

  2. Yea, but overall I’m pretty damn happy. I got to see some new stories about the classic Alpha Flight team and I think the writer got a lot of the big points correct. I’d given up thinking I’d ever see either. Of course, in keeping with Alpha Flight tradition, too much Mac, not enough Puck!

  3. I must say I have never read a Alpha Flight comic ever until this series and it really was flawless as you say all the way through. It is a shame that this is the final issue..

  4. I’m looking forward to reading this.

  5. I think flawless might be a bit much. Tossing in Wolverine one issue before the end seemed a bit distracting. I think they did do a great job of returning these characters to life and making them interesting again. Hopefully they will wander into some X-men or Avengers comics for an arc. I need more angry, alien Marrina and crazy, super-canadian Puck.

  6. Will be missed. I think this was much stronger than Defenders has been to date, but a team of 3rd string characters is a hard sale these days. Just ask the Agents of Atlas.

  7. Yes I am saddened that this is ending. I never knew about this book before a friend of mine who is closely related with Dale Eaglesham (Fantastic Artist) I own every Alpha Flight in this mini series and every Variant of that, I have 4 of the Puck covers. Great Stuff! Now if only Dale would sign them for me. Dale mentioned on his facebook fan page that Marvel doesn’t give free copies of the comics they draw and they have to get it the same way we do.

I had 3 comic shops in 2 Provinces here in Canada searching for Variants but Strange Adventures came through and was nice and left me a present each month in my bag! Oh how I will miss my Alpha Flight!

  8. People who never read the original John Byrne issues and are jonesing as this run draws to a close should try to find them, it was really Byrne at the top of his game, doing original superhero work inspired by his introduction of these characters in Uncanny XMen written by Chris Claremont. The issues are all very good, and the reason that this team never quite dies…I think a lot of people fell in love w/ AF from that beginning.

IMHO, however, except for this mini and the one-shot that preceded it, all the rest of the AF ever produced has been crap (I’m talking about you, Bill Mantlo). The Omega Flight mini? Not bad, but it wasn’t AF.

And c’mon, you can’t blame the creative team for using Wolverine, always closely related to the team, to try to boost sales. I had no problem with his use in the book, and expect he’ll be there for the finale.

  9. Wolverines appearance in this series was very down played and which it really should have been since he is not the focus however; he does have some history here and to me being a new AP reader I thought it was done very well.
Urthona-thanks for the heads up on the JB run for AP I will be looking for it next week Wednesday at the book store which so happens to be my B-day and I will get myself a present and this sounds like the thing. Thanks again.
So sad this series is over and I hope to see some more of Dale, Greg and Fred’s work down the line and hopefully with The Ap. This book and series receives a 5 again this month and the whole mini deserves a 5 as well.

  10. Oh and this will be a great trade!! So if you have not read this and are slightly intrested then I think this in trade is only gonna be that much cooler if thats possible. I almost wished I could have waited for the trade and I am some what glad I did not.
Anyway, pick this up, I recommend it to anyone who truly loves super hero comics.
