ALPHA FLIGHT #1 (OF 8)

FEAR ITSELF TIE-IN

A FEAR ITSELF maxi-series spinoff!

Do you fear…your country turning on you? Alpha Flight has long been the protector of an entire nation…but what happens when that nation needs to be protected from itself?

New York Times best-selling authors Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente, along with red-hot artist Dale Eaglesham, bring back the team you demanded – the original Alpha Flight! Sasquatch, Snowbird, Northstar and Aurora have been joined by their revived allies Guardian, Vindicator, Shaman, and Marrina as the paragons and protectors of an entire nation.

But as FEAR ITSELF takes over, their own country turns on the Flight and brands them traitors for the shocking actions of one of their closest allies. As the borders close and an entire nation hunts them down, will the newly reunited Alpha Flight survive?

  1. Oh Canada Go Canucks Go!!!!

  2. Did Northstar vote NDP?  Imagine he used to be big on the Bloc.

  3. I really enjoyed seeing all these characters again in the 0.1. I am a bit concerned about the maxi-series being all Fear Itself tied-in. And where is Puck?

  4. @HeX  NO!

@JimBilly4  Puck was last seen in Hell during Wolverine’s trip there.

  5. Hmmm…I’m not sure about this one. Van Lente & Eaglesham, with Jimenez covers.  might be hard to resist.

  6. @RobotZombie I know. But until he manages to escape and rejoin the team, I will not be satisfied!

  7. @JimBilly4 – the plot is easy.  For 7 issues, angry canadians curse at Alpha Flight bilingually, sue Shaman for malpractice (“excuse me, but you were out of body when you did my heart transplant, Dr Twoyoungmen”), reject Aurora’s health care claims, switch Snowbird’s meter maid beat from prestigious St. Catherine’s St to Laval, etc, but in issue #8 Puck returns…and…well…sh&t, everyone loves Puck!  All is forgiven, eh?

  8. Not very familiar with the characters, but it seems like fun ideas. Plus I’m one of the ones that loves an event tie-in

  9. I hate that they’re doing an event book for the second issue. This is not a smart move if you want to keep readers.

  10. @Brainiac6
This whole limited series will be tied into Fear Itself.

  11. Read it in the store and put it back. I’m done with Fear Itself and all $4 Marvel books. When Bendis says the price doesn’t hurt sales, he’s wrong. I’ve dropped all Avengers, Spider-Man, etc. because I’m sick of the cost.

  12. Beautiful cover but I just can’t get into Eaglesham’s art.  Another Fear Itself tie-in asking me to shell out $3.99.  Love Alpha Flight so it’s tempting, but I’ll pass.  Marvel, I’m tired of paying $3.99 for average stories and art!  Get your act together!

  13. Game 7 tonight!

  14. I enjoyed the issue even though I do not really know much about the characters. Looking forward to the next issue.

  15. The first issue was great.

  16. Great issue all around. Pak and Van Lente did a good job of introducing the team to me, as i’ve never read any Alpha Flight ever, and Eaglesham’s art was great through the whole issue. Nice cover too. Definetley my POTW.

  17. The worst part of this mini-series is that it’s a Fear Itself tie-in. AF, when written well, can stand on its own perfectly well…and this is a well written Alpha Flight! I’ve been waiting for something good since the John Byrne glory days, and thankfully that time is finally here. The creative team are obviously fans of the original series as they’re going a great job of restoring the shine and potential to every member of the team. I hope this sparks a regular ongoing series, and I hope they’re able to keep the quality control going strong.
