  1. Love that cover & welcome back Mr. Immonen, you haven’t been missed………..that much!

  2. Remember when comic books came out monthly? Ahh, the good ol’ days.

  3. Part of me wants to try this because I actually enjoyed Uncanny X-Men but then I see so many issues have come out already and I’m not so sure. These double shipping comics can really slow past you.

    • I was hesitant, but kept hearing good things, and then my LCS still had a couple copies of the first issue, so I checked it out. It was excellent, and I went back and got the rest (took a little searching). They are all in multiple print now, and it shouldn’t be too hard to track them down. Trade comes out in a couple months. It’s a really cool series I recommend it.

  4. “The Original Five X-Men get new costumes!” OOOOOh

It’d be great if Jean walked out of her room in the Dark Phoenix costume and everyone was like “Ummmm…”

  5. Welcome back, Immonen!! Really looking forward to this. Issue 9 already?!

  6. I like this cover, and I hate to be this guy, but the banner across the bottom is awful…not as bad as DC pushing Arrow, awful…but still awful.

I gotta be honest, I’m a Bendis fanboy…I love his stuff…He has done a great job here too.

Question…How many of you are thinking of getting second jobs to support this twice monthly shipping habit? I’m just glad the books have been good.

    • Yeah… the double shipping makes me want to drop it and wait for the trade… but the writing is so good I don’t want to stop reading it…

Such stupid problems we have as comic readers!

  7. Forget about the “new costumes.” Bendis revealed online that while that was the original plan, they have since decided to hold off on the new costumes until later in the year, to tie into the 50th Anniversary stuff coming up.

  8. I love Immonen, but I’m kinda bummed Marquez is off :/

  9. Marquez did an okay job, but the story was somewhat lacking last issue — and without Immomen’s sweet art, I didn’t find the read very rewarding. I may just collect the Immomen issues in the future — especially if the Marquez issues aren’t pivotal to the story. I’m glad they are holding off on the new uniforms. The crew had only been back for a few days — why would they change uniforms so soon?!

  10. Just re-upped for another dozen issues.

    Hoping this maintains the momentum.

  11. Great issue.

I’m still not sure where this is going, and I like that. In modern superhero comics that’s a rare thing. Normally a slow burn like this would’ve gotten on my nerves by now, but I feel like we’ve been rolling from #1, and we’re just gradually, almost imperceptively picking up momentum. With dialog and characterization like this, it can take its time as much as it wants. When Bendis is on, he is ON.

I know some folks here have a preference, but in my opinion having Immonen and Marquez switch off like this is like having a basket each of the world’s most delicious apples and oranges. Either way, we’re getting beautiful artwork and our eyetummies are full.

    5/5

“Seriously, our Danger Room is like a big red ball that flies at us really fast. Some hoops and a – a – This is really elaborate.”

I think I like Young Bobby even better than Present Bobby. Hilarious.

  12. Looks like you gotta buy that other X-Men title to fully appreciate the last page in this issue.

    • …Not really? They spend the whole issue talking about a certain someone and then they show up on the last page in dramatic fashion. There’s no information from uncanny that adds anything important to that final splash.

    • Yeah, I gotta go with @balefuego on that one. Having read Uncanny X-Men no doubt enriches the last page, but it’s not at all required. There’s enough context in this issue, and even more if you’ve been reading the series so far.

    • Hey dudes, I just think that if you had read last weeks Uncanny X-Men #3, that last page in All-New X-Men #9 has a little more impact and resonance – I know it did for me.

The fact that it was Magik that planted the “idea” into Scott’s head to teleport to the school, to me, makes that final page all the more dynamic then if I had just only read All-New X-Men.

Bottom line – Marvel knows how to drain our wallets. 😉

  13. I love this so much. Also immonen makes the costumes look gooooood!

  14. The final page… WOW. Immonen is a boss.

  15. Another great issue, but the dialog between mystique and Lady Mastermind was kinda of silly to me. Mystique has a problem with her name being sexiest but has no problem with Lady Mastermind attire, but I loved seeing Mr.Creed back.

  16. When does Marquez come back? Coming back to Immonen was, strange as it sounds, disappointing. It looked rushed compared to Marquez’s super-clean style. Good, but the book didn’t “pop” like the last few issues did.
