  1. Not entirely sure where this is going, but it’s extremely entertaining.

  2. New story arc, new teammate, new dynamics! I can’t wait to see what happens in this issue!

  3. Absolutely loving everything about this series. If Marvel made it a daily series I would throw my money at them

  4. With so many X-Men books out there, and more coming, which one is the “definitive” book and which are just ancillary?

    • Which ever sells the most

    • Of the two X-Men books out right now, I think All New X-Men and Wolverine and the X-Men each offer definitive looks at the X-men, just with different tones. ANX seems to have a broader scope, a bit more of a summer blockbuster feel. WATXM has a lighter tone, but it’s still a fun read. And the two upcoming books both seem to have pretty specific marching orders -Uncanny will deal with Cyclops and his revolutionary cell and Adjectiveless X-men looks to focus on Jubilee and the other female X-men.

So I don’t think you can nail down a single definitive X-Men book, each one delivers something a bit different. Which, if Marvel is doing their jobs right (and I think they are right now), that’s the way it should be. When everything’s working well, there are no ancillary books.

  5. By subscription.

Will a 12-issue subscription last six months?

  6. Well, I guess we’ll see if it’s as enjoyable without Stuart Immomen…

  7. I was hesitant about Bendis and I thought the premise was a corny gimmick, but then I read all these rave reviews and picked it up. I have been pleasantly surprised. The execution has been great, the story entertaining, and the pacing just right. Thank you everyone for talking this book up. Looking at picking up Uncanny now too. Haven’t collected any X books (besides the new Legacy) since Fraction, and I’m excited again.

    • if you like this Bendis for the reasons listed, then you’ll love his Ultimate Spider-Man. great stuff. Marquez has been there, as well. even Samnee.

  8. I’m not familiar with Marquez, so I’m a little nervous going into this one. Immonen has been the biggest draw for me so far.

    • His work on Ultimate Spider-Man has been phenomenal. I found myself wondering where Marvel had been hiding this guy!

Really looking forward to his turn on this series. If they must alternate Immomen with another artist, I think Marquez is a fantastic choice.

    • You weren’t kidding. This guy’s fantastic!

    • The art was great in this issue! Have no fear, this did not become a chibi-anime book with the artist change.

    • Marquez is amazing. As Justice mentioned, he has been phenomenal on USM(can’t pimp that series enough).
If he bounces in between both titles as fill-ins for Sara and Immomen, then i will feel doubly “blessed”.

  9. this is the only X-men book i am intrested in.I have been X-Men for more then 25 years, and this series is a keeper. Can’t wait to see Angel meet up with Arcangel. HEH

  10. This issue had a certain moment that has been a long time coming. Ever since the first X-Men movie, *at least*. Can hadly wait for Uncanny X-Men to restart! #CyclopsIsRight

Besides, the beginning with Jean and Kitty is just amazing. Bendis is knocking it out of the park.

  11. This continues to be great. Really enjoying this book. It’s been a while but with this and wolverine and the X-men i’m fully back on board and enjoying the X-titles.I like the way this is heading and having lost uncanny X-force I’m looking looking forward to Uncanny X-men and X-men.

  12. Love the Marquez art. Really…there’s no letdown here for me from Immonen…I think Marquez just excels in the character moments and I really enjoyed this. Kitty and Jean, Scott and Logan, Warren and…Angel? All great.

  13. Wow. I was hesitant about the artist swap, but I forgot about that immediately. Where the hell has this guy been?! Gorgeous stuff. The double-page layout got a little confusing at times, but I didn’t really care. His figures are solid, and he really drew the ages beautifully.

I still don’t care for the way Bendis writes Logan, but it was less irritating this time around. I did enjoy Logan sympathizing with Scott in spite of himself. That was nice.

Good issue. If it wasn’t such a tremendous week, this might have been my POTW. Keep it up, Bendis!

    • The layouts have been kinda confusing through the whole series. They’ve done a good job incorporating the spine where there is no story, but more than once I have found myself on the wrong panel. But that’s my only critique, and I’m getting “better” at reading this title. Marquez was great and I agree with you on the ages. They definitely did not look young enough with Immonen. I was starting to think the “you’re 12” thing was just a running joke, but now its believable.

  14. The panels w/ Jean and Kitty were excellent. Enjoyed this issue. Did anyone else notice, however, that Wolverine looked exactly like Benicio Del Toro in one or two panels??

  15. Its good to see Jean back in the X-men, wonder how long it will last. Also wasn’t Uncanny X-Force supposed to be released this week? didn’t see it at my LCS.

  16. Great issue. I was very pleased with Marquez’ art especially since I’m over the moon for Immonen/Grawbadger. I like his stuff here better than the first time I saw it in Ultimate Spider-Man drawing Miles. Only one nitpick: there are a lot of eyeballs and pupils in this issue that look like glass eyes. Maybe that’s due to the digital drawing, I don’t know. But if the doll eyes get under control, I’ll call it flawless next issue.

  17. So we have Uncanny X-Force and Young Avengers next week? HOT DAMN!

  18. I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this art. Marquez’ art is stunning. The story is refreshing, hope it can keep it’s momentum. This definitely caught me by surprise.

  19. This book continues to amaze me. The characterizations and interactions are beautifully spot-on. Even with the 2 glitches with panel layout, this was my pick of the week. This series has now surpassed Saga as my most anticipated comic release.

  20. A bit of a quality dip from Imonen, but still a great read. Really looking forward to reading this regularly, which isn’t something that has been true for me reading an x-title in a long long time.
