Remember: One question per person please.

Comments

  1. Mysterio is one of my all time favorite villains. Do you have any plans for him in the near future? Keep up the good work sir, loving the Avengers guest starring and the supporting cast, it’s all awesome!

  2. I haven’t followed the main Spidey Universe in over a decade, given these .1 issues are being promoted as a good jumping on point for new readers, and I mean this in the best possible way, why should I?

  3. With Joe Q. out of the EIC chair, can we reset the status quo of the marriage back in place of Peter & MJ as if One More Day, Brand New Day & OMIT never even happened please for say Amazing Spider Man #700?

    Matthew

  4. Can he see himself doing a significant run on ASM, now that the rotationg team of writers is history. Like, doing 3 or more years on the title. To build something, maybe something lasting.

  5. Dan, how do you recharge?  And for inspiration, do you have different go-to sources like Writer X for dialog, Writer Y for structure?

    Thanks,

    Joey

  6. Mr. Slott, I would say that your writing easily fits into the all ages camp. After I read the last issue of Amazing I thought this could be given to a 9 yr no problem, on the flip side I read the last issue of Detective Comics and had the exact opposite reaction. Is your all ages writing a reaction to the current climate of comics, or is just the way you write?

  7. Peter Parker is already in a bit of an ethical quandry using his new job to make Spider-tech.  Although Max seems to have approved this (because he benefits from the research), is there going to be a conflict of interest between Peter’s job at Horizon Labs and Spidey’s new position as a member of the Future Foundation?  Would Reed be at all concerned about seeing his technology end up at Horizon Labs?

  8. @GhostCritic  I would suggest you listen to The DON’T MISS podcast that’s already posted We will be talking about things past the Point 1 issue.

  9. Do you personally know the real Spider-Man?  What does he have to say about his portrayl in the comics you’ve written?

  10. Mr. Slott, I am a HUGE fan of your Spidey works. I think you have an incredible talent for finding Spidey’s voice, and reflecting who he truly is in every sentence in ways that I once believed only Brian Michael Bendis could. You always have very interesting BIG ideas for the Webslinger, and I enjoy taking the journey with you. (And to be fair, I’m also a huge fan of WB, John, and am always excited to download the next episode as soon as it’s up, and I thank you for your contributions to true comics journalism through your podcasts.) and now my question: for a couple of issues of the Spider Slayers arc, you, Dan, were only credited as a plotter, and Fred Van Lente was credited as the scripter. If you don’t mind me asking, why did this happen? Was it just to keep schedule? Thank you once again, good sirs. You are both scholars and gentlemen.

  11. Dan,

Thanks for referencing Paul Jenkin’s “Kevin” in your first solo issue, combined with the Ramos art it was like my favourite Spider-man era revisited.

My question, everyone has their own opinion of Spider-man. Loner vs Avenger, successful vs parker luck, single or dating? Do you try to balance fan opinion when writing, or do you write Peter Parker as you prefer him. If so, who is Peter to you?

  12. I don’t have a question. Please give Dan my praise for his efforts on Amazing Spidey. I love his interviews (fun, funny)as his enthusiasm comes across great. Thank, John.

  13. Any plans for the return of Ben Reilly the Scarlet Spider

  14. I’d like to say a big thank you to Dan for his brilliant body of work especially on Mighty Avengers.  Loved the tone on that book and it was a big influence on the graphic novel I’ve got coming out later this year.  I’d love to ask Dan to write the foreword actually (although this probably isn’t the place to ask that question).

So instead, as Amazing Spider-Man has a rotating art team (including my own favourite Stefano Caselli) how does this affect how you approach the writing process (if at all)?

  15. Hey Dan, I loved your “The Thing” work.  Any chance of Ben making an apperance in Big Time?

    Thanks

    Keith

  16. How far ahead are you in scripting the series, and how far have you plotted ahead.

  17. Dan! Big fan!

Any chance we will see anything involving the Great Lakes Avengers anytime soon with your name attached? I know Squirel Girl popped up recently in ASM, which was great, but it’d be lovely to check in with the rest of them too – another special maybe or even when your schedule is open enough another mini? I, for one, would love that.

  18. Mr. Slott –
As a life long Spider-Man fan, let me first say that I’ve been loving Big Time. Let me next say that Marcos Martin is easily my favorite in a long list of amazing Spider-Man artists in recent memory and I can’t wait for his upcoming arc. So my question is: As a fellow Spider-Man fan yourself, who is your favorite Spidey artist of all time? (Conditions: Other than Ditko and not working on Big Time!)

    Thanks!

    Isaac

  19. Given how your start was in all ages comics how important do you think all ages books will be for the future of comics? Given the recent cancellation of Thor The Mighty Avenger and the downgrade to the upcoming Captain America: The Fighting Avenger it seems like a lot of comics arnt trying to hook kids anymore. I’m just wondering if introducing books like that, which would be a perfect way to introduce charecters without having to go through forty plus years of continuity, and then cancelling them is the right way to go?

Also: What are your thoughts about the Original graphic novel format ala the upcoming Takio.

  20. So many questions…*sigh*

When will it be your turn to do a big event/crossover?  Fans of your run on She-Hulk know you’ve got one that you want to tell, so when can we expect it?  Could next year be the year of The Reckoning War?

Oh yeah.  Tell Ty Templeton we need more of his stuff too!

  21. Love Amazing Spiderman first and foremost, and I’ve heard that you work in Marvel style, and I was hoping that you could explain how that process works as opposed from full script.

  22. Im a brand new reader to comics in general, your run so far has made it easy to pick up and understand the world of spiderman, was a main goal of your or a happy bi-product of your story?

  23. Since Ben Grimm has shown up in this book, is there any chances for She Hulk to show in Amazing Spider-Man anytime in the near future.

  24. Dan, what’s wrong with Eddie Brock? I always considered him to be a major part of Venom’s appeal. He had the motive to hate Peter Parker, not just spiderman. Plus he had a great personal physicality and menace. Shouldn’t the revamp of Venom have something to do with him?

  25. When Dan was at the Dublin Comic Con in Ireland a couple of years ago he said that he had written a load of stories that have never seen print, among them the Punisher. With Vertigo now releasing their long hidden stories in Vertigo Resurrected, does he think that he will ever get to see his stories in print?

    Thanks,

    David O’Leary

  26. Are you planning on picking up any threads from your She-Hulk run, specifically the Reckoning War and Awesome Andy?

    Thanks Dan.  You rock.

    Aaron

  27. John Severin or Jack Davis: who do you prefer and why?

    Thanks

PS, Spider-man/Human Torch might be my favorite mainstream book of the mid-00s. Seriously, guys, go get it.

  28. First of all i want to tell you. I’ve been loving Big Time. Specialy the hobgoblin. I’m rooting for him as much as for Peter.
I Want to know about a couple of characters. If they are going to be back around in the future, or if you have any plans for them or want to use them but can’t. Screwball, Mister Negative, Shang chi, Anti-Vanom, The Reillys, Old man Vulture, Deadpool?

  29. When Marvel announced the whole Marvel Architect thing a while back, how did you feel to not make it to their list of Architects even though you write one of their best selling comic?

  30. Any chance of an issue of Spidey featuring Shulkie’s old law firm? And Jen too!

  31. Mr. Slott,
Do you plan on revisiting any more secret identity problems or scenarios of Peter’s?  The resolutions of OMIT just left me with a headache.

Thanks for making me remember why i like the webhead.

    -Ed-

  32. First Thank You John for these podcasts they are a real treat to listen to, can’t beleive I read comics and enjoyed them for years without podcasts like yours.
    Mr. Slott,
Big fan.  when will She Hulk and Moon Knight be in Amazing?

  33. Hey Dan,

First of all I just want to say thanks for writing comics. After to listening to you on these podcast, I can easily say that you are the most enthusiastic writer in comics today and it shows in your writing. I know you landed your dream gig of writing Amazing Spider-Man but are there any other corners of the Marvel U that you’ve had you eye on to pen some stories, such as, the Fantastic Four or the X-Men? Keep drinking that coffee and keep writing.

    Thanks,

    JesTr
