TRAILER: Batman: Year One

"Welcome to the DC, bitch!"

This is an O.C. joke based on that fact that Benjamin McKenzie is playing Bruce Wayne. Just so we're clear.

MTV's Splash Page has the official trailer for DC Universe Animated Original Movie's Batman: Year One starring McKenzie, Bryan Cranston, Eliza Dushku and Katee Sackhoff.

That's a lot of bats. That's…you'd be hard pressed to find a belfry voluminous enough for that quantity of bats. We like that quantity.

McKenzie comes off a little flat here, but as we all know, the real draw is Cranston as Jim Gordon. He doesn't pop up here, but we got a nice teaser of his performance in the special features of last month's Green Lantern: Emerald Knights release.

The movie premieres on Friday the 22nd at SDCC. Look for it on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Video OnDemand in October.

Comments

  1. I dodn’t think TDK could be replaced as my favorite Batman movie… But this may take the #1 spot.

  2. Looks like fun.

  3. Oh man, this looks so damn good.

  4. The music made it very intense, I hope it is in the film.

  5. That looks briiliant!

Looks like another DCU animation I’ll be happy to import.

The cover looks pretty damn sweet.

  6. It looks great. Looking forward to it.

  7. wow, i don’t think i’ve seen a bad batman cartoon yet. i love thebatman year one story

  8. Holy crap!  That looks great.  I usually Netflix these movies before I buy them, but I might just have to pick this one up right off the bat.

  9. it looks really nice, but i don’t know about that voice. Animated Batman begins and ends with Kevin Conroy for me.

  10. @wallythegreenmonster  Problem is Kevin Conroy doesn’t sound like he did back in 95

  11. @Heroville  And even then he’d sound too old for this particular character.

  12. Wow I am actually pumped for this movie

  13. @Heroville  — autotune the dialogue…fix it in post! haha

yeah i’m sure you and conor are right, but those are tough performances to follow.

  14. This looks AWESOME, but OCTOBER?! Argh! I feel like the dog in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGeKSiCQkPw

  15. Can’t wait to see this movie!
A couple of thoughts 1) Interest move having Nolanesque sound effects in the mugging scene 2) I want more and more Jim Gordan. To me Year one is as much if not more his story.
Although a Jim Gordan trailer won’t exactly put bums on seats. CAN’T WAIT!

  16. This may even surpass Mask of the Phantasm as my favourite Batman movie! (And yes that includes live action)

  17. nice

  18. DC makes excellent animated movies so why can’t they seem to get the live action ones right minus the last couple batman movies

  19. Kevin Conroy sounds exaclty the same
    So does optimus prime.
Professional voice actors don’t age like that.

Conor is right he’s supposed to have a more youthful tone here.

  20. Sweet.

It looks like it’s gonna go full on dark judging from the trailer. I have a feeling goosebumps will be had when we have the ‘Gentlemen you have eaten well…’ speech.

  21. yeah, i agree with ericmci, i can’t tell the difference between young Kevin Conroy and old

on the other hand, does it really matter to your life if Batman isn’t voiced by Kevin Conroy in a cartoon?

    No, go outside

  22. Animation looks sweet!!! Love these direct to DVD/BLU-RAY DC animated movies, wish Marvel would do a few more. I love this s@#t!!!

  23. I still think it’s funny that major actors are now “starring” in animated shows and movies. I guess I’m just old school that way and am used to the days when character voices were done by

  24. That is really pretty. DC could probably make a few dollars if they released a deluxe hardcover that also included the DVD, and maybe some interviews with Miller, Mazzucelli, et. al. They could probably do this with All Star Superman, New Frontier and a few I’m forgetting…
