Lack of Jaime Reyes’s family disappoints.
With almost 70 years of service and a least one death in the line of duty, Alfred should be #1.
Also, I’d have put the Question’s Aristotle Rodor on the list.
Alfred Pennyworth Forever!
what about the American Butler in Knight and Squire?
Glassford is correct.
While I am sad at the exclusion of Jarvis and JJJ, those two panels have given me a newfound respect for Foggy Nelson. Well done, old boy.
Wow those suits are loud!!!!
No Jimmy Olson? That’s a little surprising. Or by the fact that he has had his own series disqualify him?
@CaseyJustice and @TheAskanison — boy my brain is slow today, but you are right to point out the lack of JJJ and Jimmy. I can’t believe I didn’t think about them or that they are not on the list. The top three should be JJJ, Jimmy Olson and Alfred with debate about the order. I’d still put Alfred first, but reasonable minds could differ.
does the “FAP” sound fx have to be so close to their crotches?
No Oracle love? How about Jarvis? Jimmie Olsen should also make the list. I’ve never even heard of Frenchie or Snapper. I don’t think JJJ makes the list because he’s not really in the superhero SUPPORT game.
I am ok with the Jimmy Olsen snub as long as Rick Jones is out as well.
Snapper Carr > Jimmy Olsen. It’s simple math.
Woozie Winks lost out to Snapper Carr? Hmm I dunno about this list fellas.
Guys, I’m thinking of moving Frenchie up to #1. I mean, he’s got a hat.
@josh Snapper vs Jimmy? Snapper didn’t have his own book drawn and written by Jack Kirby. The Kirby awesomeness alone should put Jimmy over the top. Not to mention the Jimmy from the 50’s Superman TV show… “Jeepers, Mr. Kent!”…
Considering how much every one goes on about himl; Jimmy Olsen anyone?
no happy hogan love
happy hogan comment was from me, sorry wheelhands (we share the same work computer)
Alfred and Frenchie, but no Jarvis? For shame.
Woozie Winks has a hat too… and awesome overall fashion sense.
Jameson isn’t a supporting character. He’s an antogonist.
Jarvis has no character to speak up. Just appearing in comic books doesn’t make one a good character.
Foggy is awesome.
It looks like Foggy goes shopping for suits with the mayor of Amity Island.
I was going to get mad about the lack of Rick Jones on this list but he’s had bouts of sidekickism and the occasional hulkout, so all is forgiven.
Rick Jones, mother fuckers.
I think we should have a supporting cast bracketology in March.
I know he is a sometime superhero and everything, but shouldn’t Rick Jones be on the list?? I do think Jarvis also deserves a mention. Also, as a veteran Wolverine fan, let’s add some sexiness to this with Tyger Tyger or Yukio. They aren’t girlfriends. They are FTFs.
2 everybody know who the Hell are the other
3?
@josh Antagonists can be supporting characters. But in the terms of spider-man, JJJ is only a supporting charcter (sometimes) to peter, not to his superhero persona.
@kevsname72 Amity, as you know, means friendship.
5. Jimmy Olsen
4. Foggy
3. Commissioner Gordon
2. JJ Jameson
1. Alfred
You guys should definitely read Giffen & Rogers Blue Beetle
I object to the list, on grounds that it misses Dexter Myles, the greatest failed actor in all of the DCU. And no love for Flash Thompson either?
Allan the Alien. Come on!
@josh I’m so mad that your opinions aren’t the same as mine! RAR RAR RAR where’s the love for my favorite characters? I don’t care about yours!! I expect to see the list I would make when I click these articles!
FIN
1. Alfred
2. Jimmy Olsen or Lois Lane
3. Foggy
4. Commissioner Gordon
5. Jimmy Olsen or Lois Lane
Yeah, so I doubled up on the Batman and Superman. Show me other supporting characters who’ve been around as long, been as important, and had such depth. Can’t be done.
Pieface’s lady talks like a female Hulk. Or maybe she’s the opposite of One Night Stand Thor – Clingy ESL Girl. LOL (ESL=English as second language)
@msarsur I love you.
@josh Love you too. 😛 In fact, He loves us all.
J. Jonah Jameson is one of the best comics characters ever created.
Came for Foggy, left satisfied.
Alfred for #1. Seriously. And agreed that Jimmy Olsen and J.J. Jameson should make the cut. They should be there at the expense of Snapper Carr and perhaps Pieface(since I don’t know who that is), but then Snapper Carr is one of those things that gets a laugh out of me just for being mentioned/remembered. Kind of like Charles In Charge. You don’t have to be clever or be right, you just have to acknowledge the existence of Charles In Charge to make me laugh. Likewise any mention of JLA’s hip, finger-snapping-but-otherwise-useless sidekick is welcome, even if it’s wrong. So very wrong.
you could not have picked a better panel to show why Foggy gets the nod. let’s not forget, dude got married in that suit. iFanboys, next time someone asks what comic-themed element to add to their wedding, you show them this.
Rick Jones
No girlfriends, boyfriends, husbands or wives = NO Lois Lane.
(4) Jameson, (3) Olson, (2) Gordon, and (#1) Alfred to finish my list (with Jones at 5).
I agree with Foggy. He is the best lawyer in all of comics. Its NELSON and Murdock for pete’s sake.
But where is Flash Thompson?
I’m not even sure how this list can even exist without Rick Jones. But that’s probably just me…
Why would someone as cool and classy (High Society butler, ex-spy, Batman’s confidante and medic) as Alfred have a Homer Simpson like comb-over? Couldn’t Bruce have come up with some kind of Batoupee along with the shark repellent bat spray?
Holly in catwoman…?
I think Snapper’s existance in comics needs to be justified.
And more Frenchy!
