THE DAMNED Enters Development at Showtime

Development can be hell. Luckily, Cullen Bunn & Brian Hurtt have some demons on their side.

Just weeks after learning that Syfy has already committed to six episodes of The Sixth Gun, Deadline reports that the pair’s previous project The Damned is in development for Showtime. You know the pedigree’s good, but who’s got the leash? Scriptwriter David Hayter’s name should be familiar as he wrote the first two X-Men films as well as Zack Snyder’s Watchmen adaptation.

The Damned centers on a goodfella named Eddie as he straddles a demonic turf war in an otherwise normal Chicago. All he has to do is hold onto his skin and hope to win back his soul amidst all the supernatural wheeling and dealing.

A Marvel exclusive contract for Bunn and then two creator owned projects from the team–both from Oni Press–go into development in the same summer? Not bad at all.

  1. SNAAAAAAAAKE!

  2. I need to re-read the graphic novel. Did they ever collect the second storyline?

Glad to hear these guys getting some development love as both properties are excellent.

When did this happen and how did I miss it?

I want to say it was announced at SDCC with the news about his work on….Battle Scars? I can’t keep track of the post FI branding. But yes, couldn’t have happened to a nicer, hard-working talent.

    • Oh, I agree – he’s a class act. Nice to see the good guys prosper!

  4. I loved reading The Damned! Maybe the second story arc will get collected soon. One can hope.
