SDCC 2011: Syfy Pulls the Trigger on The Sixth Gun TV Series

Oni's occult western series The Sixth Gun is headed to Syfy as a six-part mini-series. The news was announced today at San Diego Comic-Con and it's pretty much all there is to it at the moment.

We have learned that the project has sped past the optioned and pilot stages and is set for at least six episodes on the network formerly known as the Sci-Fi channel.

Are you stoked? You ought to be.

A tree full of the talking dead and the one man with the gumption to betray them? A goat wreathed in bedeviled pistols? A casket full of ghostly horror?

“During the darkest days of the Civil War, wicked cutthroats came into possession of six pistols of otherworldly power. The Sixth Gun – the most dangerous of the weapons – has vanished. When the gun surfaces in the hands of an innocent girl, dark forces reawaken. Villains thought long dead set their sights on retrieving the gun and killing anyone in their path. Only Drake Sinclair, a gunslinger with a shadowy past, stands in their way.”

Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt are delivering one of the most exciting and inventive creator-owned comics on the shelves and we're pleased as punch that The Sixth Gun is heading for the small screen. This could be a lot of fun.

  2. AWESOME! So a pilot was done already? Anybody see it? Any idea who was in the cast?

  3. Six episodes for The Six Gun! Nice……….

  4. Oh my god oh my god oh my god…

  5. Good for these guys, working their butts off on a small (well compaired to other indie books) and now they have a tv show in the works.

  6. Very cool news. Sixth Gun is a great book.

Let’s just hope we get good SyFy (BSG) and not the bad (most of the rest of their original programming).

  7. Nice.

  8. That is quite impressive.  Like @j206 though, I hope Syfy treats this property with great respect unlike all of their other crap lately.

  9. I should be happy with this news since The Sixth Gun is one of my favorite series right now, but I just don’t have that much faith in Syfy to give it justice. I would have liked it better if it was to be done by Starz at the very least. Still hoping Syfy does it well though.

  10. I love this book.  Can’t wait!

  11. YES!!!! They better not F this up!

  12. I’m stoked like a train.
