The Best of the Week in Panels – 11.10.2010

First prize for Best Panels is a Cadillac. Second prize, a set of steak knives. Third prize is, you're fired.

Oh, have I got your attention now?

Avengers: The Children's Crusade #3

By Allan Heinberg, Jim Cheung, Mark Morales, Justin Ponsor, and Cory Petit

So Captain America offers you a hand up, and you pull the snikt on his neck, Wolverine? Really?  REALLY?

In my mind, the next scene was Steve putting that runt on his ass in no uncertain terms, and Logan apologizing, and offering to wash his motorcycle.

— Josh Flanagan

American Vampire #8

By Scott Snyder, Rafael Albuquerque, Dave McCaig, and Steve Wands

Yes, Chief. That is a car.

— Josh Flanagan

Knight and Squire #2

By Paul Cornell, Jimmy Broxton, Guy Major, and Steve Wands

I have spotted a flaw in this disguise.

— Josh Flanagan

Ultimate Thor #2

By Jonathan Hickman, Carlos Pacheco, Dexter Vines, Edgar Delgado, & Clayton Cowles

Give the Nazi's credit for style and brand awareness. Even when they employ Frost Giants for their siege of Asgard, they make sure everyone is in uniform.

— Conor Kilpatrick

Batgirl #15

By Bryan Q. Miller, Dustib Nguyen, Derek Fridolfs, Guy Major, & Sal Cipriano

Just about everything you need to know about the history of the current players in the Batfamily, as told by the ever charming Stephanie Brown.

— Conor Kilpatrick

Comments

  1. You know, I knew that Batgirl panel would make this before I even clicked the link.

  2. The only time I have a panel of the week is when Red Robin comes out. There are always some amazing panels.

Also I fricking love the Batgirl panels.

  3. What exactly are those guards going to do with the bells on the end of those sticks, force the enemy to move to the next comic?

  4. Stephanie Brown should explain all confusing situations in comics.

  5. KInda suprised that none of the amazing panels from ROBW #6 made it on here. But these are also great.

  6. @Minion – How about the hug this week? PanelOTW over here.

  7. Heinberg!!….

  8. I can’t remember off the top of my head what page number it was, but in Amazing Spidey 648, when Spider-Man owned up to letting one slip to Spider-Woman.

    "Was that…"

"Yeah. Part of it was nerves…Part of it was I had Taco Bell for lunch."

    (paraphrasing)

  9. Heinberg writes a really weird Wolverine. . . I want the panel Josh proposed, complete with Steve calling Logan "son."

Those Batgirl panels are awesome.  I spent part of the issue thinking that Steph was taking a cartooning class, and that was what the study group was for, but apparently not.

  10. That Batgirl piece is amazing. I want it on my wall. "I am an acrobat"

  11. I literally laughed out loud at that Knight & Squire panel.

  12. that awesome 3 pages of batgirl did what grant morrison can’t, simple and entertaining

  13. I like the rebelion for rebelion’s sake attitude for wolverine, sometimes cap needs knocked down a bit too

  14. Batgirl is awesome.

    No you shut up!

  15. I loved the panel of Red Robin with Tim and Bruce hugging!

  16. Great quote at the start of the article guys. Made me LOL for sure!

  17. Batgirl wins the Caddy! those panels put a big silly grin on my face! Now I’ma have to run out a pick this up STAT! “damian is Robin-Robin”
    luv it.

  18. Batgirl wins the Caddy! those panels put a big silly grin on my face! Now I’ma have to run out a pick this up STAT! “damian is Robin-Robin”
    luv it.

  19. Now I’m even more irritated that batgirl sold out at my shop.

  20. That drawing of Knight & Squire is fantastic. Technically I can see Squire getting away with it but you’d think The Knight would take his helmet off….

I would say my favorite panel(s) were from Batgirl. Again that opening sequence pretty much made me love the comic at least on an art level. Out of all of the panels though I do love the Tim Drake origin the most. Maybe I still have ‘Cry for Justice’ in my head, but anyone screaming ‘Justice’ is hilarious.

  21. Love the Knight & Squire one. I also literally laughed out loud. Reminds me of all the times in 70’s comics where Batman was wearing his complete costume, pointy ears and all, beneath another costume.

  22. I thought that panel from Knight and Squire would make it.  It was so ridiculous, but awesome at the same time.  Also, that opening sequence in Batgirl was a riot.  That’s such a great title.

  23. @ Josh. I thought Bucky should have laid Wolveriene out too.

I’m enjoying the snot out of Knight and Squire. Those pages had a lot to lok at in them.

  24. @Bassonjedi: That’s not Bucky, it’s Steve.

  25. As I came across that page in Knight & Squire #2, I thought to myself ‘This had better make The Best of the Week in Panels or else…’ Glad I didn’t have to find out what ‘or else…’ meant 😛
