Smallville – S10E18 – Booster

Booster Gold and Blue Beetle make their Smallville debut tonight with a script written by Geoff Johns. (Although you wouldn't know anything about Blue Beetle from the promos…) If you've been following along at home you know that he previous episodes that Johns has written — dealing with Clark's first encounter with the Legion of Super-Heroes and the introduction of the Justice Society of America — have not only been chock full of awesome DCU references, but a hell of a lot of fun too.

As always, I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

Comments

  1. This episode looks awesome.

  2. This should be good. I’ve enjoyed all the other Geoff Johns written episodes.

  3. Booster!

If you want to make your expectations skyrocket, here’s the finale promo that aired last week.  John Williams score always makes everything better.  And is that a certain bald fiend we’ve been missing for the last three years…

  4. My younger cousin just watched the promo with me and said, “you mean he’s real when he’s not a cartoon!?”

  5. Jaime!

  6. Skeets !

  7. KORD!

  8. lex

  9. Ron Troupe!

  10. Like a pimp.

  11. clumsy up, Clark. and push up those glasses more.

  12. Saw that coming; was kinda hoping she was gonna be called Traci

  13. They showed a promo for Lex!!!!!!!!

  14. Yes! Blue Beetle!

  15. The Goldstar dancers are a nice touch.

  16. Sad to see Kord being the bad guy and is Skeets the earpiece?

  17. Earpiece Skeets is a dissappointment.

  18. I’ve missed some episodes, is this the first time we’re seeing Cat Grant? I don’t think I like her on here.

  19. Please let Ted laugh.

  20. Big Bad Beetleborgs!

  21. I laughed something fierce at “Is there a bathroom around here, I had a milkshake on my way in..”

  22. A nod to Dan.

  23. @boomergirl  Did I miss it?

  24. Legion ring. All is right with this episode.

  25. @Heroville they mentioned him as the lab tech who first bonded with the beetle.

  26. I literally almost jumped out of my seat when Clark ran into the telphone booth.

  27. Anyone reminded of that movie “Star Kid”?

  28. @Heroville yeah I saw that in theaters when I was a kid.

  29. D’awwwww.

  30. So much Booster history! I can walk away from Smallville happy.

  31. Marketing advice from Michael Carter

  32. Those cookies are laced with Kryptonite….strain marijuana

  33. Ted, Booster and Jaime together: now I can walk away happy.

  34. I really thought that moment between Booster and Clark was great.

  35. Zod? Oh boy.

  36. All in all, great episode!

  37. Awesome episode. Made me actually want to pick up a trade or so & get caught up on Booster Gold & Blue Beetle. Maybe I will start with the Justice Leauge Generation Lost Hardcover that came out.

  38. @SpiderTitan  JL:Gen Lost is awesome. I knew who they were before hand, but never ready any booster or JLI stuff. Big Fan now

  39. @SpiderTitan I would also recommend the first 2 trades of the Booster Gold series, written by Geoff Johns. They’re called 52 pick-up and Blue and Gold. Beetle and the JLI play a big part, especially in the Blue and Gold trade.

  40. It was a GREAT EPISODE!! Too bad so late. and zod…meh ,and zod in movie…BIG MEH

  41. I really liked this episode. Skeetz as an ear piece made total sense, he doesn’y really need to be floating around for other people to hear anyways. It would be kind of weird?

  42. It also saved them a butt-ton of money from having to animate it.

  43. I would have liked Ted Kord to have been held ina  bit better light but I dont think bad guy quite fit….   Booster had some of the best grandstanding!  Love it!   The Beetle armor wasn’t as bad as I feared it would be, all things considered.  If I thought he’d be in any other eps, I’d say as Jaime got more mastery over the armor, it should get more detaied and flexible.

  44. @EJ  Yup! More money on bronzer for Booster!

  45. This was excellent.

  46. i’m confused…blue beetle is a guy in armor? excuse my out of the loopness

  47. @kidCharlemagne  That’s him.

  48. i thought he was a geeky scientist in a normal costume though! is there a new one in the comics?

  49. @kidCharlemagne  Yep, the new Blue Beetle been around for about five years now. The scientist in the normal costume – Ted Kord – was killed.

  50. @conor  And this fact still makes me sad. I miss Ted Kord 🙁

  51. @conor  Are you sure Conor? I thought the heavy in the episode was Ted Kord while the scientist that was killed after wearing the scarab was unnamed. I appreciate the Dan Garett references and overall a good episode by Smallville standards. Another episode with Zod next week…..blah.

  52. @neptunes55  Am I sure that Ted Kord was killed in the comics and that Jaime Reyes has been Blue Beetle for the last five years? Yes, 100%.

  53. Awesome episode … I think they’ve found their spin-off in the Blue Beetle.

    Bumbling Clark Kent = BRILLIANT

  54. Geoff Johns hit another one out of the park!  Loved this from start to finish!

  55. Loved the use of the fan club t-shirts
