Scott Pilgrim Director Edgar Wright DJs

This past weekend on BBC Radio 6's show "Month of Matinees", Edgar Wright, director of the TV series SPACED, the movies Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz as well as the upcoming film adaptation of Scott Pilgrim, hosted a 2 hour radio show where played a mix of his favorite songs including a few of the bands that inspired him during the production of Scott Pilgrim as well as a few songs that may end up on the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack.

He starts talking Scott Pilgrim around the 12 minute mark, as also has some great taste in music including songs by Metric, Art Brut, Frank Black, Queen and some other classics.

You can hear the entire 2 hour radio show streamed from the BBC.
And you can see the full track list on the Month of Matinee's website – apparently there are only 5 days left to listen to it, so what are you waiting for?

  1. My heart skipped a beat because I thought this said "Dies"

  2. He’s included a song from the Adam and Joe radio show! I have found my new god.

  3. LOL @ heroville

  4. Incidentally, Wright is also attached to direct Ant-man, last time I checked. Although that’s no-where near shooting.

  5. I’m with @Heroville, When i was reading that I thought it said he died. man I am happy that he is not, he’s quickly become one of my favorite directors because of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and the amazing Spaced. On the plus side though those were some good songs played up there, I was just going to listen for Scott Pilgrim news but I actually ended up listening to alot of it

  6. Oh, God. I’m not the only one who thought it said "Dies." Scared the shit outta me.

  7. "The record buyin’ public we hate them!"

  8. This is really bad. Not edgar Wright, because he is great, but the fact that you lot can listen to this without paying. I have to pay my TV licence to get this. I’m happy that people in America can get access to our superior cultural forms but not for free. I know you can argue the relative freedoms of internet content, but the fact is that the more non UK residents access this service, the more the BBC gets eroded and those who wish to see it dismantled have their argument enhanced. Sorry for getting all earnest but I love the BBC.

  9. Thanks for the tip Ron.  2 hours of pure sonic joy.   This is a series that was off my RADAR.  I’ll have to check them out.
