PREVIEW: Vertigo’s TIME WARP #1

Funny thing, time.

Damon Lindelof, Dan Abnett, Jeff Lemire and Mark Buckingham head up a star-studded anthology of temporal tumult in Vertigo’s Time Warp, due out March 27th.

We’re pretty taken with both the team and the concept.

Let’s do the time warp again! It’s time for another fantastic Vertigo anthology filled with spectacular sci-fi stories. Robots, deep space and lots of time travel twists by a bevy of comic greats and the up-and-coming stars of tomorrow. Damon Lindelof and Jeff Lemire bring us a blast from DC’s past, plus another installment of the “Dead Boy Detectives” from Toby Litt, Buckingham and Victor Santos, Matt Kindt presents a stirring story of man vs. machine—and so much more!

Now, how’s about a preview?

Comments

  1. Wow, that cover is a really different look for Risso (based on what I’ve read in the past), but I dig the hell out of it. This book sounds very cool.

  2. This does sound cool and some of those preview pages are fantastic.

  3. Gotta love when someone uses Jeff Goldblume leaving the Pod from “The Fly” as a reference point.

  4. This looks and sounds ‘out of this world’! For me, this is the most anticipated anthology yet from DC/Vertigo!

  5. Sounds great but 7.99 is just ridiculous.

    • It’s borderline, I think. The $7.99 Young Romance special was, what, 32 pages plus the 18 Valentine cards? While still a tragic price point, this is at least somewhat reasonable. Somewhat.

    • Eh, I guess it kind of depends how many of those 80 pages are story pages.

$7.99 for 80 pages of story is a really good deal these days. Even 64 story pages still makes it cheaper than your average $2.99 DC book.

    • I see where your coming from breaking it down by pages and content but just the thought of paying 7.99 for a comic, no matter what’s in it, just doesn’t sit well with me.

    • Young Romance had 48 pages of story. 6 stories 8 pages long. Plus the V-Day cards. It should have had one more 8 page story at that price, IMO. It was overpriced – and not that great.

I tend to avoid anthologies because they never feel like they are worth the price, unless every single story is good. And that never happens.

  6. LOVE time travel stories. I’m in.

  7. Definitely planning to pick this up, as long as I have the extra $7.99 that week . . .

  8. This looks pretty awesome. Though I admit, Lindelof is almost a dealbreaker.

  9. DO THE TIME WARP AGAINNNNN

  10. I love these anthologies Vertigo has done lately. Whether they’re reprints of uncollected stories or original material they are always worth the price. Looking forward to this especially with a killer line up.

  11. I’ve bought a few but the only one I was satisfied with was the Shoot reprint with other assorted Vertigo stories (Including a creepy Morrison/Quitely story). I stopped pulling them but the line up and concept of this has me…I think. Will make the decision in the store.

  12. Looking forward!
