PREVIEW: THE ULTIMATES #15 – This is Happening to Ultimate Captain America [SPOILERS]

Lex Luthor was President once. Now Steve Rogers is going to have his turn.

In tomorrow’s Ultimate Comics The Ultimates #15, by Sam Humphries and Billy Tan, Captain America wins a special write-in election for President.

Then a week later, here’s what Marvel has to say about tomorrow’s Ultimate Comics The Ultimates #16:

Then next week, in Ultimate Comics The Ultimates #16, Humphries and artist Luke Ross, Steve Rogers accepts the position of President of The United States- and not a moment too soon! A deadly villain with a personal tie to the Ultimates is about to enact his endgame, one which promises to leave no hero unscathed. Now Captain America must find a way to safeguard this country both as a President and as a super hero—but can he do both?

I mean, no. No, it’s very likely he can’t. Does he need to sleep? Is that an offshoot of the super soldier serum? Either way, he’s going to be distracted at the very least.

So, here are the pages. Would you have voted for him?

Comments

  1. Humphries is a MAD MAN! I’m sorry I ever doubted he could continue the insanity Hickman started last year. This is going to be cool!

  2. hahaha, is Steve Rogers over the presidential Age requirement (35)???

Sure he was born in the 20’s probably, but he was frozen near the end of WW2! I doubt he’s actually 35 though

We need the Ultimate Supreme Court to rule on this

  3. I would vote for Captain America, but not Ultimate Captain America. Ultimate Cap is a douche.

  4. We should make every future President state their superhero alter ego after their real name when they take the oath of office.

“I, Mitt Romney, (Ozymandias) do solemnly swear…”

    • Who would Obama, Gary Johnson and Jill Stein be?

    • Mitt Romney isn’t good enough at hiding his sliminess to be Ozymandias. He’d probably be Norman Osborn: Born abundantly rich, has no idea how to communicate with people who aren’t, generally scuzzy to everyone he meets, uses his intelligence in the most ridiculous ways, changes his agenda like he’s bi-polar, etc… The only difference is that Romney has better hair.

Barack Obama, on the other hand, would probably be Booster Gold: better at selling himself than actually solving problems, followed everywhere by his hovering sidekick (Biden), has his face plastered over everything, gets lots of credit before even doing anything, has serious daddy issues and so forth.

    • @J-Shap That, sir, is inspired.

  5. This looks great – love Hickman and Humphries both. However, until Marvel changes their digital pricing, I’ll have to pass (issue 7 is still $3.99!).

    • I’ve been waiting for the Marvel Monday and Friday digital sales to pick up Ultimates and UC: X-Men. UC: Spider-Man, I’ll admit, I cave and pay the $3.99 because I love it that much. It’s the only title I do that for.

  6. I have some questions I’d like someone to follow up on eventually:

    1. Did Janet’s brain get implanted into an Android body?
    2. Is there going to be more Miles Morales and Jessica Drew shenanigans?
    3. When are we going to get a Jimmy “Wolverine” mini?
    4. Where has Jean been?
    5. Surely Doom, in some form, has to come back right? I guess Reed’s taken up that role though…
    6. When do we get some more Ultimate Ben Grimm?

    • 1. I think that was in the 616 universe, though I could be mistaken.
      2. I’m sure there will be, but presumably in Ultimate Comics All-New Spider-Man (that title, though consistently awesome, is certainly a mouthful).
      3. I don’t see this happening anytime soon, since they’re slowly characterizing him in Ultimate Comics X-Men.
      4. Not sure where I read this, but I remember seeing an interview with Brian Wood where he said the focus of UCXM would shift to Jean & co. after the Kitty Pride & crew story.
      5. Reed has definitely taken up the role of Dr. Doom, but I’d be down for hordes of Doombots!
      6. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION REGARDING THE ULTIMATE UNIVERSE.

  7. Really loving the Ultimate line at the moment. Hope the craziness keeps on coming.

  8. Was this event called United We Stand or Divided We Fall? I think I’ve seen both.

  9. Personally I think Thor (either 616 or Ultimate) as President would be far more amusing.
