Heavens to Betsy and back.
Skottie Young has delivered some sensational mutant art over the years, but with Magneto: Not a Hero, he’s trading his art boards for a keyboard and churning out some scripts. Now, for a moment there it was a little disappointing to learn that Skottie wouldn’t be drawing this project. But then you want to look at this preview from Clay Mann. Their visual styles are wildly different, but Mann, does this look good in a whole other kind of way.

love Magneto and love Clay Mann’s work. last year at NYCC, I got a Magneto head sketch from him. if I get a chance, maybe I can get something else from him this year. casual wear Magneto maybe?

The art alone makes me want to pick this up, although I’ve never read X-Men, could I still enjoy this?
i would say so. But i’m a HUGE magneto fan. All you really need to know is that cyclops created utopia and gained magneto’s respect and has since been trying to suppress magneto’s hate crimes against homo sapiens. All of which it will probably describe in the intro.

The art looks absolutely amazing and the colors are so vibrant, I just hope the writing will live up to art. I am definitely going to check this book out.
