Comments

  1. Despite there being some intresting stuff coming out this week that I would like to check out(Shield, Avengers Orgin, New Avengers Luke Cage, Electric Ant) I’ve only got three books this week.

    Batman and Robin

    Sweet Tooth

    and Muppet Show

BQ: Never been to a con but I guess If I could I would want to check out Wonder Con. And I’ve got an out spoken intvitation from a freind to check out the Boston Comic Con but I never seem to have the time.

  2. looking forward to SHIELD and the continuation of Second Coming in Uncanny

BQ: never been to one but I’d love to go to Emerald, Wonder, or Heroes, one of the smaller ones.

  3. Looks like it’ll be SHIELD, Superman: Last Stand of New Krypton, and Superman: Secret Origin for me. I am curious about Turf and Spider-Man Fever, though. Has anyone heard anything about these?

BQ: I’ve really loved Emerald City these past few years, but San Diego is like a whole nother level of convention.

  4. Pretty light week for me (8 books), since I’ve commited myself to getting mini’s in trades from now on.

  5. Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

Daaaaamn good week of comics by the looks of it. Excited about Flash, Shield, Turf, Secret Origins, Avengers: Origin and more.

BQ: My favorite is NYCC. I’d like to visit WonderCon or Windy City.

  6. Batman and Robin, Red Robin, Superman Secret Origin, Flash Secret Files and Origins, Sweet Tooth, and Uncanny X-Men

When you’re least excited for Red Robin, you know you’re in for a great week.

BQ: I’ve only been to HeroesCon in 2008 and 09 (I have family in Charlotte, and use them as an excuse to go), and being from Indianapolis, I was dying to get to C2E2 this year, but it’s not looking like it’ll work out.  Might try to make it to Summit City Comic Con.  I’ve been toying with the idea of making the pilgrimage to San Diego in 2011.

  7. Looks like a lot of at-the-shop decisions.  Could be a small week.

BQ: The only one I’ve been to is Dragon*Con, and by God, that’s all that I need.  It’s a hell of time and I urge everyone to check it out.

  8. I’m very intrigued by the premise of Shield.  Other than that, Uncanny X-Men, and Batman & Robin, looks like another light week for me.

BQ: Being a newbie to conventions, I think it’s safe to say that SDCC will always be up on the top of my list.  New York Comic Con right after that.

  9. I’m skipping all things Second Coming related.  Look forward to SHIELD, Superman: Secret Origin and Sweet Tooth.

BQ: Only been to one, but am looking forward to attending NYCC this fall!

  10. BQ: I haven’t been to any conventions. The one I really would like to attend would be ECCC because it’s small and more comic book based than others. From watching your shows creators seem more relaxed, and I would rather talk and hang out a bit with creator I like than just only get him to sign something.

  11. BQ: I have been to a few, but my favorite is my home town one WONDERCON!!

  12. Superman Secret Origin and Invincible Returns top the list for me this week. Just cant get enough of the sweet Gary Frank art.

BQ: I’m going to C2E2 which will be my first comics convention. I actually have no idea what to expect but I’m quite excited because it has some of my favorite creators from the big two, podcasting, and webcomics.

  13. Batman and Robin, Uncanny, Buffy, Sweet tooth

BQ: SDCC is still my favorite (although I love ECCC as well) I really want to get to the NYCC someday.

  14.  Good week. Lots of quality books.

    Batman And Robin #11

Flash Secret Files And Origins 2010 #1

    S.H.I.E.L.D. #1

Superman Last Stand Of New Krypton #2 (OF 3)

Superman Secret Origin #5 (OF 6)

    Sweet Tooth #8

    Uncanny X-Men #523

BQ: Last summers Fan Con in Toronto kicked ass. It was the first time I went for all 3 days. I went to the tron panel(Which was awesome) and the Sunday conservation with Dan Didio panel. I also got a original art page from Karl Kerschl. I also got in for free. The whole con was just amazing.

I also hope to San Diego Next year which hopefully will be tons of fun.

  15. After a dry spell, this is a busy week for me: the Batman and Robin trade (so excited), Secret Six, plus my usual Doom Patrol. Might even pick up the Flash Secret Files.

BQ: Never been to a con. Always thought I’d go to San Diego one day (mainly cause I’ve never been to America’s west coast), but who knows?

  16. There are some goodies this week! Avengers Origin, Batman And Robin, Flash, Jonah Hex, S.H.I.E.L.D., Superman Secret Origin, and more. Nice.

  17. This is the week where I was waiting for: Batman and Robin HC, Batman and Robin 11 and Flash secret origins.

Bonus question: Comics books aren’t that wellknown in my country. People don’t even believe me when I tell them there are conventions with thousands of people, where some even dress up as a comic character.

  18. Area 10 Hc

    Astounding Wolf-Man #22

    Avengers Origin #1 (OF 5)

    Batman And Robin #11

    Buffy The Vampire Slayer #34

    Deadpool And Cable #25

    Dellec Gunnell Cvr #3

Flash Secret Files And Origins 2010 #1

    Gi Joe Origins #14

    Red Robin #11

    S.H.I.E.L.D. #1

Superman Last Stand Of New Krypton #2 (OF 3)

Superman Secret Origin #5 (OF 6)

    Uncanny X-Men #523

    Wolverine Weapon X #12

You say Leonardo Da Vinci was part of SHIELD….how can you pass that book up?

Also looking forward to Joe Casey and Avengers: Origin.

BQ:  Went to WizardWorld Texas about 3 years ago….it was fun, but then I went to San Diego 2 yrs ago and that was just awesome.  Completely different styles of cons those 2 but I had a blast at both.

  19. Zero pulls.  I may change my mind on a few titles, but if not that would be the first week ever.

  20. Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

@Cedric – Really? Isn’t Belgium Tintin central? I thought there was like a museum or something. Or do you just mean modern or American comics?

  21. @Paulmontgomery: I mean the american comics. Ours are way different. I don’t get why people like tintin(kuifje in my language, we speak two languages in Belgium) so much. The best belgium comics are for me Thorgal and Largo Winch. but I don’t know if they are known in other countries.

But even so, we still don’t have conventions for comics, even if they are European.

  22. I am pretty jazzed about New Avengers: Luke Cage.

BQ:  Never been to a con. I’ve wanted to go until a friend said WWDallas depressed him so much he fell out of love with comics. So…I’ve been hesitent.

  23. Some fun books this week.

BQ: I think my favorite is definitly NYCC. I would love to visit Wondercon. Might end up doing so next year.

  24. Who the hell are those new people listed as staff?

  25. @AquaPimp82: Really?

  26. Maybe I should read the stories before I post. My bad.

  27. Wow, REALLY light week for me, just batman, cinderella and shield number 1. At least i got some extra wiggle room to pick up all those books i missed while on vacation.

BQ: I’ve only ever been to NYCC. Got to say that i’d like to visit SDCC at least once. Seems like one of those pilgrimages that all comic book fans should make.

Congrats on the big expansion to the iFanboy family! Can we expect to see a rotating member on the PoW podcast?

  28. @Cedric & Paul: Believe it or not, the anime and manga conventions here in America (like Otacon) are way bigger and more prolific than those in Japan, where the damn source material originated!

  29. @Patman2-Boston comic con is pretty fun, its cheap and the guests are always cool. Check it out 🙂

  30. I’m probably most excited for the next chapter of Superman: Secret Origin. I’d kind of forgotten about it  admist all the Blackest Nighteningness (it’s a word, even if I just made it up).

BQ: All the cons I’ve been to have their charms. I’ll probably say Wondercon is the best just cause there are so many great comics people in SF. And not much tops an Isotope party.

  31. BQ: The only Con I’ve been to is Dragon*Con and I really enjoyed it.  I’m planning to attend NYCC this fall and am very excited.

  32.

Shockingly heavy Marvel week for me….with B&R, Buffy, and SHIELD being my presumptive POW contenders

BQ:  Haven’t attended one yet but planning on attending SDCC in 2011, figure i should get one in before the world ends the next year

  33. Lots to look forward to this week, especially the latest Vertigo Crime HC with art by Chris Samnee.

BQ:  The only con I’ve been to is the Mid-Ohio Con in Columbus last year.  I had a great time there and plan on attending every year that I can.  The deals are just too good to pass up.  I’m hoping to hit a con that’s a little bit bigger next year, like Emerald City or WonderCon.

  34. Superman: Secret Origin, Flash, and Captain America and Black Panther.

Also, I still can’t wait to get the last volume of Pluto.

  35. @stuclach…Dragon*Con fans unite!

  36. I think I’ll also try out Sheild #1 as well.

  37. Most looking forward to Sweet Tooth and New Avengers Luke Cage mini (ERIC CANETE). I’m wavering on Batman and Robin.

The only one I’ve gone to is the New York Comic Con. I went 3 years ago on a Sunday and saw Josh and Conor outside hidding a hot dog stand. You guys looked famished so I didn’t want to bother you. I ran into a guy I used to work with, who has some comic connections. He led me to the Abrams booth which were selling first edition of the GIANT Kirby coffee table book. I then talked to someone at Top Shelf for awhile, found a cool T-shirt for $5, and picked up some back issues of Dan Dare. It was a lot of fun and I would love to go to one of the other smaller cons.

  38. NYCC

  39. Really want to get to Emerald city since I am just in Tacoma (that is south of Seattle).  It seems like it would be small enough that I could still see a lot of it.

  40. Solid week of 12 books for me (it appears to be my new average).

    Most excited for:

1)S.H.I.E.L.D. (listen to the Dont Miss podcast)

2)Uncanny XMen #523 (the first part of Second Coming was awesome!)

3)Wolverine Weapon X #12 (My god the last few issues of this have been REALLY REALLY GOOD)

BQ: Never been to a con but if I had my choice it would probably be Emerald City.  Im more interested in interacting with creators and buying original art than announcements and celebrities (doesnt mean I wouldnt go though). 😉

  41. Big week for me.

    Old favorites:

    Astounding Wolf-Man #22

    Demo Vol 2 #3 (OF 6)

    Invincible Returns #1

    Jonah Hex #54

    King City #7

    Proof #26

    Sweet Tooth #8

    new pulls:

    Electric Ant #1

    S.H.I.E.L.D. #1

    Spider-Man Fever #1 (OF 3)

    Turf #1

  42. No event books this week – almost kinda sad.

Most looking forward to The Boys, Superman books, Spider-Man: Fever, Demo, Flash, Avengers Origins, Invincible, GI Joe, Proof, Sweet Tooth – plenty of worthy books this week.

BQ: I only attend the Baltimore con, which I haven’t had a bad time at yet (9 years). However,  there was some kind of fan-fest thing in New Jersey put on by Dynamic Forces back about 5 or 6 years ago. It was in a couple ball rooms in a hotel somewhere, and Mark Millar was there (back when his Marvel Knights Spider-Man was coming out). Sure, it was a pretty long drive from B’more, but the free admission, Millar, Chaykin (my first time with him), Azzerello & Risso (their Batman run had just finished – got an awesome Cole Burns sketch!), Joe Quesada – it was a great day.

  43. Birthday week of comics anit nothing like it.

    Batman and Robin
    Batman Confidential
    Deadpool and Cable
    Superman Secret Origins
    Sweet Tooth

BQ: NYCC cause I can meet all of you there 🙂

  44. BQ: Next NYCC i’m definitely going to be there

  45. Alan Moore’s Dodgem Logic should also be out.

  46. I’m looking forward to Avengers Origin, Invincible Returns, and Shield#1.

BQ:  I’ve been to San Diego, Wizard World LA and Wondercon, and to be honest, Wondercon last weekend was my favorite experience.  I got a couple of sketches from Chris Giarrusso, I was able to meet Darywn Cooke at the IDW booth (stood in line for 3 minutes), and Greg Rucka at the Oni Press booth (waited in line for less than a minute).  I was also able to meet Conor after the podcasting panel, and I scored 6 hardcovers I have been wanting to get for about $60 bucks (including Starman Omnibus Vol 4, and the second astonishing x-men hardcover).  I can’t wait for next year.

  47. I successfully predicted the last 2 weeks POWs.

This week I predict the pick will be: Batman And Robin #11, SHIELD #1, or Flash Secret Files #1.

  48. @KickAss

Oh jeez, that must be hard choosing multiple titles to be the pick of the week and then saying you are right when one of them is.

  49. Batman & Robin, Invincible Returns and Ultimate Comics X for me. That’s what I call a small but solid week.

BQ: WonderCon, no question! San Diego is way too big and those little local cons which are basically glorified flea markets are too small, but WonderCon is just right!

@Haupt: Hell yeah, buddy! Those Isotope after parties pretty much blow everything else right out of the water! And don’t even get me started on that absolutely epic Tiki Tour!

  50. Batman and Robin #11
Cinderella: From Fabletown With Love #6
    Demo Volume II #3
The Flash: Secret Files and Origins 2010 #1
    Invincible Returns #1
    Superman: Secret Origin #5
    Sweet Tooth #8

BQ: I’ve only been to my local convention, Bakersfield Comic-Con, and I’ve enjoyed the dealers and deals there. I’ve always wanted to experience San Diego Comic-Con and just might do so next year.

  51. @NawidA-It’s easy.  With Josh & Ron I narrowed it to 10% of their books, predicting correctly it would fall into that prediction.  With this pick, I’ve narrowed it to 15%.  There’s more quality comics this week than the previous weeks.

  52. A more convincingly heavy week this time.  Most liking the look of Batman and Robin, SHIELD, Luke Cage, Weapon X and Avengers Origin.  Some interesting new books.

BQ:  Never been to one and from this side of the pond it’s a little tougher.  Still I like the sound of Wondercon, and if not maybe Heroescon or NYC?

  53. @BetaRayRyan – Damn straight!

  54. If I’ve got to pick just two books (and believe me, there are more…) I’d have to go with TURF #1 from Image and SHIELD #1 from Marvel.

TURF just looks awesome and after talking with Joe Keatinge a while back about it, if I had any doubts about it they were dashed away.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is just another Hickman book that I think "if" people check it out and hang on to it for more than a couple of issues, they’re going to be rewarded with great stories, great characters, and BIG concepts!

  55. All the books I buy are coming out this week.

  56. BQ: Never been to a convention. Thinking of going to Summit Con in Fort Wayne, since it’s only 1 1/2 hours up the road. Or, if I’m feeling really ambitious, C2E2 in Chicago (3 hours)

  57. Finally a decent sized week for me after what feels like 3 light ones. Looking forward to Batman and Robin the most, since the last issue was amazing. Also excited for Weapon X and Flash Secret Files.

BQ: NYCC baby! Used to go every year when I lived there. Haven’t been in 2 years now, but I’m making my return this year fo sho.

  58. BQ: Never been to one, but I’m going to C2E2 next weekend and I’m super excited for it!!

  59. Hey John Siuntres, where’s your pulllist??!!!

  60. 28 Days Later #9
    Batman And Robin #11
Flash Secret Files And Origins 2010 #1
    Jonah Hex #54
    Red Robin #11
    S.H.I.E.L.D. #1
    Wolverine Weapon X #12

BQ: Never been to one. I would start small and work my way up to Hollywood Con (AKA Comic Con).

  61. BQ: Oh, and as far as cons… Heroes Con in Charlotte is always the top of my list.

  62. Relatively small week this week.. only 10 books or so. Not a bad list. B&R,  Flash, Red Robin, Wolv Weap X, Invincible, Secret Origins and others.

I clicked on Sweet Tooth to pull it and had to think about it after the fact. People have been so high on it, I assumed I was reading it. Haven’t read a single issue, not sure why I decided #8 was my jumping on point. 🙂

BQ: I’ve been to SDCC and Windy City Comic-Con.  I really enjoyed SDCC for what it was and am going back this year.  I think Windy City Comic-Con was a much more welcoming and comfortable con though. Far fewer people, far more accessible.  Maybe c2e2, I’ll figure out how to carry around a sketchbook and talk to creators. 🙂
