Light Week? Wolverine & The X-Men #2, Parker: The Martini Edition, and Comic Book Comics #6

We can give you the recommendations, but if you don’t act? You will be forever condemned to a life of boring, lifeless comics, the same thing, page after page, and while the pages are in color, the existence will be gray, gray, gray…

Wolverine & The X-Men #2

By Jason Aaron & Chris Bachalo

Usually I try to highlight a low-pulled book, or an under the radar book that you should be checking out. But today, we’re at a moment in time, much like a year ago with Uncanny X-Force, where you can jump on and start enjoying the X-Men in a way that’s better than it has been in years. Don’t miss out on the wild fun that Jason Aaron and Chris Bachalo are delivering with Wolverine & The X-Men!

Richard Stark’s Parker: The Martini Edition

By Darywn Cooke

We made the first one Book of the Year. The second volume was a runner up, and we all said it was even better than the previous one. Darwyn Cooke is as talented as anyone working in comics today, and this is an oversized hardcover featuring 65 additional pages of content, and a new 8 page story never before seen by our mortal eyes. Come on…

Comic Book Comics #6

By Fred Van Lente & Ryan Dunlavey

Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey’s delightful look at the, at times, maddening, funny, bizarre, and inspiring history of the comic book industry ends with the origin of the term “graphic novel”, Osamu Tezuka and the manga explosion, and the history of the direct market and advent of digital comics. If you love comics and want to be educated about the history of the industry, this series is a must-read.

  1. I am so looking forward to the Parker Martini Edition! Darwyn Cooke’s stuff is always worthy of the jazzy oversized hardcover with whistles and bells treatment, and this will look real purty on my bookshelf right next to the Absolute Edition of New Frontier! So what if I have both books already? This is well worth a “double dip”.

  2. Light on the number of the comics yes, not light on the overall price this week. I’m getting FF #600. Thank goodness I preorder my comics.

  3. @Comic Book Comics #6 You had me at Osamu Tezuka.

  4. I’d have to have a light two months to get the Parker collection.

  5. CBC#6 cover is amazing. I’ve never read it; now I want the trade.

  6. Some good choices.

  7. Parker: Handsome Edition
