Light Week? Try She-Hulks, The Incal, and The Iron Age #1

"Light" isn't necessarily a state of physical volume, but also of the stuff of which our souls are refreshed. Is your stack "light"?

Josh says try:

She Hulks: Hunt for Intelligencia TP

by Harrison Wilcox, Ryan Stegman, Peter David, Jonboy Meyers, Ed McGuinness

When this series started, it was going to be ongoing, but that wasn't to be, and instead, it was made into a mini-series. But just because the market doesn't support something, doesn't mean it's not any good. In one of the most fun, and well drawn stories from Marvel in the last year, it's time to go appreciate something that was underappreciated. Check it out, if for no other reason than the wonderful art of up and comer, Ryan Stegman. Stay for the fun and clever stories.

Paul says try:

The Incal
by Alejandro Jodorowsky, Moebius, etc.

A grail cup for many comic enthusiasts, The Incal is as elusive and precious a rarity as the eponymous light Incal pursued and protected by its colorful cast of characters. I've never read this one and was ready to file it with the fountain of youth and affordable yet steadfastly reliable wifi service in public places. This is apparently happening though. If you dig on space opera and want to see the book which was alleged to have more than inspired the movie The Fifth Element, this is your jam. Further, you'll want to harvest some of that sweet, sweet Moebius to find out what sunrises look like just over the rainbow. 45 smackers.

Ron says try:

The Iron Age #1
by Christos Gage, Rob Williams, Lee Weeks, Ben Oliver

Maybe Flashpoint and DC Comics isn't your thing? But maybe you want an alternate timeline sort of story like they're doing over there at DC, then look no further as Iron Man is trapped in past and trying to save the future, but everyone thinks he's a drunk! Plus! Captain Britain! For Marvel fans, it doesn't get any better than this (well, maybe it does, but right now? It seems like a fun time)

Comments

  1. i’ve been waiting for this she-hulk trade

  2. I’m definitely picking up The Incal.  A guy at Bergen Street Comics put me on to The Metabarons and I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve read of it so far, so I can’t wait to get my hands on some more Jodorowsky.

  3. @lifesend  Watch his totally amazing movies!

  4. @lifesend  El Topo, Holy Mountain etc.

  5. I missed half of the She-Hulk series, so I’m gonna get the trade to read the rest.  Stegman’s art is really amazing, and it was a lot more fun to read than I thought it would be!

  6. The incal has been my most anticipated release of this year. I’ve seen jodorowsky’s movies, read the metabarons a few months ago and I can’t get enough m

  7. @ResurrectionFlan  I’ve seen El Topo, which made me open to buying The Metabarons.  It’s nice to see a guy with his kind of vision tackle comics, where literally anything can be depicted.  I’d really like to see Holy Mountain too.  My friend tells me I’ll probably dig it more than El Topo, so we’ll see.

  8. That She Hulks trade is a must buy.  So, so good.

  9. After hearing of Moebius’ legend in my teens, I found late 80’s trades of The Incal, his Blueberry Saga, Long Tomorrow, and Arzach in my college library. I felt like I had found sacred artifacts. Reading Arzach for the first time was like an out of body experience.

I HIGHLY recommend everything he’s ever done, especially Silver Surf: Parable, if you can track it down.
