Light Week? Try BLACKACRE #1, HELLBOY IN HELL #1, and FURY MAX VOL. 1!

Look at you. You used to be so cocky. You were going to go out and conquer the world. You once called me a warped, frustrated, old man! What are you but a warped, frustrated young man? A miserable little clerk crawling in here on your hands and knees and begging for help. No securities, no stocks, no bonds. Nothin’ but a miserable little $500 in comic books. You’re worth more dead than alive! Why don’t you go to the riffraff you love so much and ask them to let you have $8,000? You know why? Because they’d run you out of town on a rail. Well, I’ll tell you what I’m going to do for you, George. Since the state examiner is still here, as a stockholder of the Building and Loan, I’m going to swear out a warrant for your arrest. Misappropriation of funds, manipulation, malfeasance… All right, George, go ahead, George! You can’t hide in a little town like this!

Blackacre #1

By Duffy Boudreau & Wendell Cavalcanti

Another week, another new series from Image Comics and again, this one looks like it could have some major promise. After hearing positive buzz through industry corridors, I decided that Blackacre #1 is going to be something worth checking out. A secret mission in a post apocalyptic world? How can you not want to give it a try and see?

Hellboy in Hell #1

By Mike Mignola and Dave Stewart

See how there are only two names listed? The creator comes home to create, and I don’t know about you, but oh crap, have I missed Big Red.

Fury MAX, Vol. 1: My War Gone By TP

By Garth Ennis & Goran Parlov

It’s not possible to praise this book any more than we have. I love it. Josh loves it. Ron loves it. So now here’s your chance to catch up on the first two fantastic arcs featuring the most bad ass yet world-weary Nick Fury that you’re liable to come across. Featuring fantastic character work from one of the best comic book writers around, Garth Ennis, and some fantastic cartooning from artist Goran Parlov, Fury MAX is consistently one of the best books on the stands.

Comments

  1. It isn’t a light week for me, but I will be picking up Blackacre and Hellboy. Fury MAX is a good series as well. Blackacre looks like it will be some sort of Apocalyptic\Sci-fi thing.Right up my alley!

  2. I am very excited about Hellboy in Hell. Those two names on the cover are enough to get my money.

  3. Time to sit down with a big stack of pancakes and read some Hellboy.

  4. Ron works for Image. I’m certain of it. 😉

  5. Mignola drawing Hellboy again – oh, boy that’s good. I liked Duncan Fegredo and all, but no one does Mignola like Mignola.

Too bad I’m about 5 trades back – gotta catch up in time for In Hell to come out in Trade.

Black Acre looks good. Will try to remember to pick up in trade next year.

  6. Fury Max doesn’t look like something I typically enjoy but with 50% of the issues being POTWs, I trust the iFanboys enough to roll the dice on this one.

  7. For me, it’s “decision” time (i.e. Keep or Drop?) for new titles like Great Pacific, Storm Dogs, & Planet of the Apes: Cataclysm. I’ll be trying out Blackacre & “I love Trouble” as well….

  8. D:!!!! I can finally pick up Fury Max! Woot! I’ve wanted to get this after so many POTW’s were given. Probably not that much but from what I remember it was more than just the once. Hopefully it won’t disappoint :P.
