iFanboy Upstarts: Jeff Wamester

Comics talent today comes from all over the world, as well as all realms of art. Some artists come in fresh out of high school, while others come to comics after doing professional art in other fields like movie/TV storyboarding, advertising and design. Today's talent for iFanboy Upstarts is one of the key artists on Marvel's upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man series, but you've never heard of him.

Artist Jeff Wamester has worked for the past year as a storyboard artist for Film Roman, an animation house responsible for some of the biggest cartoons on the small screen over the past twenty years. Wamester is a storyboard artist for the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon series, but also moonlights in the world of comics. He recently finished up the Top Cow series The Darkness: Four Horsemen and is working on a series called Raze for a new start-up comic company while continuing his day job in animation.

It looks like comics and animation is vying for his time when it comes to projects, but give Wamester the right book and the right collaborators and he could be an overnight sensation in comics.
