Duck Tales to go BOOM!

Have you been enjoying the further adventures of Darkwing Duck from BOOM!? Want more all ages stories from your favorite afternoon cartoons from 20 years ago? Good news! BOOM! is bringing you Duck Tales in May. Not only that, but the ongoing series will be written by Warren Spector, well known to the RPG and video game world, and man behind such games as System Shock, Deus Ex, and more recently, Epic Mickey. The art chores will be tackled by Miquel Pujol, a well known Disney duck artist.

This is fairly interesting, as it appears in conjunction with Marvel's news about Disney•Pixar Presents, as BOOM! previously published Pixar comics. While they lost that license obviously, it looks like they still have some sort of relationship with Disney.

Perhaps this series will finally investigate the seemingly impossible act of swimming in money. Or there will just be more Scrooge McDuck adventures with Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Whichever.

And just in case you're not quite in the mood yet, here's a guy doing Ian McKellen singing the Duck Tales theme song. Good luck getting it out of your head for the rest of the day.

  1. Yes! I have really been enjoying the Darkwing Duck series. Can’t wait for this!

  2. I didn’t dig when they did Duck Tales in the Uncle Scrooge book so hopefully it’s better on its own!

  3. WOOHOO!

  4. I really miss this cartoon.

  5. Man…Ducktales, Rescue Rangers, and Talespin had outstanding theme songs.  Speaking of…where is the Talespin revival? I use to LOVE those comics printed in Disney Adventures in the ’90s.

  6. I hope they start out with a big epic story like they did with Darkwing and Rescue Rangers.
Marv Wolfman wrote a fantastic 7-part Ducktales story back in the day.

  7. Great stuff. Been really enjoying the Rescue Rangers, and Darkwing Duck issues.

  8. It’s weird how this Marvel/Disney/BOOM! relationship is. It looks like Marvel is going to keep the Pixar stuff while Boom! is allowed to keep the DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, and even the Mickey Mouse comics.

But hey who’s complaining? I want to feel young again and reading more adventures of Scrooge McDuck is what I need.

  9. Warren Spector? What? o_O

I like Duck Tales but now I’m really intrigued by this.

  10. i’m waiting for the Gargoyles annoucement but i also believe they’re saving the best for last: Gummie Bears…nuff said.
