  1. Not out in the UK til Friday, but I’m damn excited!

  2. I was quite unimpressed by the beta for this game, there’s no depth to the gameplay and no thought was given to the PC version, it’s just a straight port of the PS3 version.

  3. Played the beta all the way up until now.  Very boring game.  Like Malecema said, there is no depth to the gameplay.  It was fun for the first 5 levels meeting all the DC universe characters but after that it was just a drag.  I pre-ordered but was glad I played the beta.  I won’t be purchasing, it’s just not worth it.

  4. I played in the beta as well, but I absolutely loved the game. Waiting for it to be installed right now. I thought the beta was both fun and immersive. The gameplay was fairly simple but satisfying. I’m not a huge gamer, but I can see myself getting a lot of mileage out of DCUO.

  5. I’m not a big online game guy, but I’m getting this just for the PS3 for sure.  Black Ops now this, my wife will be thrilled!

  6. Apparently this doesn’t come out until next week for us Canuckleheads.  WTF?  Kind of dumb releasing a game on different dates when it’s online.  Never mind we always get our stuff at the same time, with a few exceptions here and there.

  7. Will it ever be available for xbox?

  8. Taking a stand against purchasing games for PS3 that make you get a subscription.  It was the reason that I never got an X-Box, so that intention transfers to this game as well.

  9. Can’t afford this, not so much about the money as the time…. I really wish I could though

  10. If I buy this, you will all see me on “Intervention” next season.

  11. Picked it up and already playing it.  I actually wasn’t looking forward to until I finally played the beta last week.  Played up to level 15 and tried a couple other characters.  The gameplay is fun, there’s a lot of options for character creation and, being a comic book fan, playing in the DCU is great.  I’m on the PS3 version and it sounds like the gameplay is more suited for a console from what I’m reading here and elsewhere.

If anyone wants to play my PSN name is also stasisbal.

  12. I hear a rumor that PSN plus members will be getting their online fee covered? i doubt it is true but i was wondering if anyone knew for sure

  13. @CGPO I was confused too because Best Buy and Future Shop Canada both say next week on their websites, but I just called a store here in Calgary and they told me copies are sitting on the shelves. Guess I will know in a couple hours…

  14. Is it weird that I just want the character creator and that’s it?

  15. @Apotheosize  No. It’s made by Sony.

  16. Played the beta on PC & loved this game.  Its almost the dream superhero game I’ve always wanted.  I will by this w/ a lifetime subscription when I amass the $$$.  Also pretty sure a Green Lantern expansion is in the works.

  17. missed out on beta, but would like to see a 1 level gameplay demo for PS3 and PC so I can make up my mind which system to purchase for.

  18. is it any good… I’m asking because I’m wondering if I should buy or wait for Star Wars: The Old Republic

  19. After I kicked my WoW habit, I swore I’d never come within feet of any more games like this.  I hope it does well.  I think we’ll have to see what the numbers are like a few months from now.  Most MMORPGs start strong because people break away from WoW for a little bit.  But most go back, and leave the servers for other games empty.  Let’s hope it’s not the case.

  20. Does anyone know how this game will play just on the PS3 without the subscription to join in on the mmorpg part of it??

  21. @debaser17  Any luck?  I kind of wondered if their online store date is wrong.  Of course I also hope you didn’t get there, walk up to the till with it and then get told they can’t sell it to you because it doesn’t go on sale until next week.  That happened a couple of times to me with DVDs at Best Buy in Vancouver, once where’d they actually set up an entire end-cap display for the DVD and still refused to sell it.

  22. To update, I’m still enjoying myself (PS3 version).  I have a level 12 hero (named Peacelock) on the Birthright server and a level 6 hero (named Iridium) on the Redemption server.  I plan on making at least 6 characters to try all the mentors and power classes so I’d be happy to hop on a different server with a new character if others here are on one.

A disclaimer to people considering buying it – I’ve had some technical issues so far and for me it’s been worse than the beta (though I was on the beta in its last week).  I’ve seen a lot of texture pop in (sometimes you’ll only see a shadowy place holder of another character for a bit) and a little lag.  They real problem I have is occasionally items and NPCs critical to quests haven’t populated, forcing me to sign out and back in with my character to finish something.

Now, I’m the type of person who can deal with bugs to a degree in a large scale game if I like the overall package enough (ex. Fallouts, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect 1).  And I am definitely having enough fun to keep playing past them here.  I also assume they are working around the clock to clean this game up because they really need it to be successful.  But if you’re very turned off by bugs you will probably want to wait and see how well they can get everything running.

@MikefromGotham – There’s no way around the subscription.  The game is the MMO part.  That said, you can play the whole game solo.  But it does seem like around level 10 certain quests get pretty tough and you’ll need to either do something else first or get a group.

@Neb – While I’ve never played another MMO to compare it to, this game feels easy to pick up and play so far.  You can hop in, do a quest and be satisfied in about an hour.  Not to say it can’t eat up huge chunks of time but I find it to be less of a time kill than some single player games (I’m looking at you Civilization 5).

  23. @stasisbal – so you recomend it if we can look past the few bugs… what I’m wondering is it very fast to reach the cap???

  24. @Stasisbal thanks for the info.  I’m still thinking about getting it.

  25. If anyone’s interest in playing, my PSN name is LifesEnd_00.  My character’s a villain and I play on the No Man’s Land server.  Damn police are always shooting my ass!

  26. @CGPO  Yep I was able to pick it up at Future Shop on Tuesday. I assume it was just an error in the online store, although strange that it was the same error on both FS and BB, unless they are fed from the same source of information I guess.

  27. Well, I’m a bit of a fool because it turns out some of the technical issues I was having were on my end.  An ongoing wireless router problem that drops my speed below 1 Mbps reared its head again.  So the game certainly isn’t flawless but runs smoother when you have a solid connection 🙂

It looks like you can hit the level cap relatively quick.  The first few levels go fast.  Seems to slow down after 10 but I haven’t been played as much since I hit that.  There’s a good bit of content reserved for lvl 30 characters but also a lot of appeal to try different characters.  Plus I’m sure they’ll raise the cap several times.

lifesend – I’ll look you up and try and character on No Man’s Land.  Curious how the PvP servers play.

  28. Know what sucks. Running out and getting a game, only to return home and find out you are having Internet problems. Looks like “The Penalty” will have to fight crime after Noob gets his cable modem replaced.

  29. I broke and decided to pick this up today. My PSN ID is davidtobin so if anyone from Ireland (or EU) would like to friend request me for this game, please do.

  30. I passed on this game. Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be occupying my time, then mortal kombat 9, then Uncharted 3, then infamous 2, then X-men Destiny… Oh, God… This is going to be a bad year…

  31. I love this game my 2 main guys are on blood will run and the killing joke and I need/would like some people to fight crime with

  32. Oh ya my guys names are Blood Talon on blood will run and Curys Kurshmul on the killing joke I work 3rd shift so I’m on in the mornig mostly let me know if anyone wants to hang

  33. come on who els plays this game

  34. I would still like some team mates for when PSN is back up and running

  35. BAH!!!

  36. @RedHawk  Sorry chief, I am not much of a gamer.
