DC Reveals Eight More FLASHPOINT Mini Covers and Creative Teams!

'Mini' does not modify 'covers' or 'creative teams.' Just so we're clear. Okay. Here we go.

Today DC announces the creative teams for the eight remaining mini-series which combine like mechanical lions into the Voltron that is Flashpoint. As a refresher, here's the first batch from last week.

We open with a really exciting one. "They experimented on him in a lab for years." This is the fate of Superman in the Flashpoint reality. Story by our man Scott Snyder, scripts by Lowell Francis, and art by the powerhouse that is Gene Ha. We're not in Kansas anymore.

It actually gets better. Jeff Lemire and Doug Mahnke on….oh my god…THIS!  It's like a swingers party at Castle Wolfenstein!

Hey. Remember that Flash related co-feature Sterling Gates was going to contribute to Geoff Johns' new Flash series? The one that sadly never saw the light of Brightest Day? Not a flash in the pan. I for one am very excited that Gates finally gets to join the speedforce, and with Francis Manapul contributing covers to boot. Check out Oliver Nome's deviantart page for a sneak peak at what Bart will look like.

This one we've actually known about, but that doesn't make it any less exciting. DnA on an alt Wonder Woman. This is one of the more fascinating corners of the Flashpoint reality, if you ask me. Especially with the Amazon/Atlantis mashup.

More from Abnett and Lanning with a gun-toting Lois Lane in Europe. Will she find her own Rick Blaine to fall in love with?

Comments

  1. Project Superman looks interesting.

  2. that is a badass cover. lois lane also has a title too right???

  3. @Endlessw  Yes you are correct.

    Matthew

  4. Synder has been killing it, and I love Ha, But god I hate to get sucked into Event side series.

  5. Note Snyder is labeled as “plotter” but not writer. He more then likely came up with all the story beats and outlined it to make sense. But this Lowell Francis more then likely did the actual script. I’m not saying that means it’s going to be terrible. Just don’t come in thinking this is all Snyder.

…..Or maybe Snyder can come in and explain the process. (wink wink)

  6. OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD

VERY excited for the Lemire book

  7. Lemire writing Frankenstein!  Match made in heaven.

  8. *huge spit take*

Holy…….I am SO FOR this Frankenstein book. Is it a mini or one-shot? Either way, it just jumped up to be the best comic revealed so far.

  9. Love FRANKENSTEIN! and Lemire and Manhke! Sold. SOLD. SOLD!

  10. Whoo boy. These first two titles sound pretty good. I sure hope that DC temporarily suspends some of its current titles so I have the funds to pick these up.

  11. i keep saying i’ll just buy the main series, but the more i see, the more titles i want. My wallet hates me.

  12. Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

We are going to assume that all of these are limited series and not one shots. That’s what the initial Flashpoint Friday post on the Source blog implies, and each solicit reads “Covers” and not “Cover by.”

  13. @Paul: Wasn’t there a one-shot (or two) announced in the last batch of reveals? Can’t remember.

Doesn’t really mean anything anyways in the long run.

  14. I’m just not being suckered into all these this time.

  15. Frankenstein’s design is so fantastic and underused that they didn’t even bother to change it. =)

  16. @Alexferrer  Agreed.  He is vastly underused and was the most interesting component in Seven Soldiers (in my opinion).

  17. I finally get me some more HA!

  18. @TNC It wasn’t clear last week but I’m guessing all the ones by more or less unknowns are one-shots.  These seem to be more “big names” so guessing these are all minis so far

  19. This is really not looking good for my comic budget.

  20. Yes! These look awesome.  All of them are must buys.

  21. I started dropping books in anticipation of all the new events, minis and one shots coming up soon. Looks like my strategy is going to work as so many of these look great!

  22. Does anyone know if DC’s regular ongoing titles are going to put on hiatus for this?? A bunch of these look so awesome; I won’t know what to do if I have to decide between buying Frankenstein and the Creatures of the Unknown or Secret Six, for instance!! etc etc

  23. I first read that as ” Wonder Woman and Her Furries.”

  24. My money is going to disappear.

  25. These look rather strong.  I’m pleasantly surprised.

  26. @vadamowens  people have comic budgets?

  27. @boomergirl  I do, yes. I can’t speak for anyone else.

  28. OMG I want all of these…every single once..damn you DC taking me to the poor house.

  29. I was only interested in the main series, but…Jeff Lemire….Scott Snyder…damn

  30. I may be totally wrong, but I believe all affected series will be replaced with these minis for the duration of the Flashpoint event, á la Battle for the Cowl. IMHO, if DC really wants us to follow this whole story (and beyond) it damn-well better be what they’ve got planned. We readers have only so much cash.

And @boomergirl: get a budget and let it be a little elastic; say, a comic or two, and your hobby will be a little happier every month.

  31. Woah; Gene ha doing interior art again? Hell yeah!

  32. At one of the DC panels at ECCC, there was a fan who asked for a Lois Lane ongoing. And rather emphatically. Not quite an ongoing. But that dude has got to be doing back flips right now. Haha.

  33. Wow, I better start mowing lawns or something to help pay for these. I want to read them all!

  34. Other then the Frankenstein announcement, none of the other titles excite me that much.

  35. I hope that the Outsider is (SPOILER for a Batman story from 1966) Alfred again. That’d be fun.

  36. Looks like the Outsider is a conrete version of Lex Luthor.

  37. Milligan/Perez!?  YES!!

  38. That Perez cover is stunning. I have no idea who the character on it are but it will be hard to pass up at the shop.

  39. That’s a George Perez cover?

I’m sorry but that looks hideous.

  40. whoops *characters

  41. @thisisegan  Looks like Shade the Changing Man and Enchantress

  42. Yeah, the Milligan/Perez title has me excited. Heard rumors about that awhile back. Milligan getting to write Shade again? Yes, please.

Since I’m mostly interested in the writers, I’m curious about James Robinson on the Outsider, Lois Lane, Wonder Woman, Frankenstein and maybe Project Superman… so that’s a bit more than last week, where pretty much only the Azzarello Bat title interested me.

Definitely hoping these are “pick-and-choose” titles that aren’t too interconnected, cuz that’ll make things easy for me… maybe 5 max?

  43. @TheNextChampion  It wouldn’t be iFanboy without a wild and unsupported claime from you 😀

I think it looks lovely. If I had to rate the top 5 minis by anticipation, it works out like this:

    1. Batman – Azzarello and Risso
    2. Secret Seven – Milligan and Perez
    3. Frankenstein – Lemire and Roberson
    4. Wonder Woman – DnA and Clark
    5. Citizen Cold – Kolins

I’ll probably also get: Kid Flash, Superman, Aquaman, and Deathstroke.

  44. @Rustyautoparts  “unsupported” is really the key phrase there.

  45. @rustyautoparts/Josh: In comparison to his other work, I think this is a pretty bad cover.

Remember when we could have opinions and not be labeled wrong? Oh wait that would be never for this site.

  46. @daccampo  Yes! Milligan back on Shade would be INCREDIBLE! That or the reprinting of the rest of his original run. Buy the book and spread the word and maybe one or both of these will come true.
