BOOM! Studios do covers. They usually do more than one. Now they’ve got Jim Davis doing covers for their Garfield series, and that guy doesn’t get out of bed in the morning for less than 100K. OK, there might be a reserve of art lying around, but still, even the licensing!
Like the issues before them, this one is written by Mark Evanier, and drawn by Gary Barker, and it brings me right back to what my favorite thing was, when I was about 10.
That’s just rude, cat.
Now I want to mail somebody to Abu Dhabi
Loved LOVED that joke.
There was a time when Garfield was actually, truly funny, right? It wasn’t JUST being 12 at the time, was it?
i went around singing that song as a kid…”ABU DHABI, you’re all packed!”

I wore out my VHS copy of the Halloween Special.
“Candy, candy, candy, candy, candy, candy, CANDY!!”
@ctrosejr: I think Garfield was actually pretty clever. It was also incredibly deadpan, which was advanced for comedy in the 70s and 80s. Either way, for me, it was a great bit of starter comedy, and also cartooning. Great character designs.
Thanks to Garfield Minus Garfield I’ve found a new appreciation with the strip. Just reading Jon’s word balloons make it funny.
