Cosplay! Creators! Comics! San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Photo Round-Up

Well, I've had a week of recovery time and I'm finally ready to write my San Diego Comic-Con wrap up article. Sleep has been reloaded, I have consumed some food other than alcohol, and my hundreds of photos are finally edited. Let's do this!

As usual SDCC kind of kicked my butt. It was a flurry of madness and business, punctuated with awesome parties, some of my favourite people in the world, exclusive toys, incredible cosplayers, panels, celebrity sightings, and of course COMICS! Some of my highlights:

  • The "Oh You Sexy Geek!" panel, a fantastic panel comprised of incredibly talented and influential women in various geeky industries (Bonnie Burton of Star Wars.com, Jill Pantozzi (The Nerdy Bird) of Has Boobs Reads Comics, Adrianne Curry of America's Next Top Model and celebrated cosplayer and geek girl, etc). If anyone knows anything about me they know I'm extremely opinionated about how "geek is geek", no gender exclusion etc. It was refreshing to attend a panel with a lot of likeminded women voicing what I am constantly ranting about.
  • Cosplaying Knockout of the Female Furies on Saturday! Our group got stuck at the DC booth for an hour and a half, and Gail Simone even got a picture with us.
  • Various celebrity sightings, the most exciting of which was Dominic Monaghan (I love hobbits!)
  • Half price trades. Though they are annoying to bring home I always load up because I can find the artists to sign them!
  • Seeing the other members of the iFanboy team, who all live away from me so I only ever see them at conventions.
  • Exclusive toys!!
  • The iFanboy party, which was held in an amazing rooftop space with strong drinks and great attendees.
  • Tr!ckster, a "mini-con" across the street from the convention center where there was live art, bands, booze, and booths set up.

Though those are a few of the highlights all of SDCC made me really happy. As I do I documented it all rather obsessively with my big fancy camera, so without further ado, here are my SDCC photo galleries!

I'm already planning for next year's SDCC, but until then I am going to play with my new toys and appreciate sleep.

  1. Looks awesome! Thanks, Molly!

  2. Thanks for all the pics, Molly. Love seeing them, but it makes me wish I could go.

I wish we had a play-by-play about who is in what pics. Was Brea Grant in some of them?

  3. @kennyg  Yep. She was at our party. (And other parties throughout the con.)

  4. Great pics! Wish I could afford to go to San Diego.

  5. Thanks – pictures of the toys create excitement with my son to want to attend.
