Bendis Teams Up with Neal Adams on New Avengers #16.1?

Leave it to Brian Michael Bendis to get the internet into a tizzy by dropping bombs on his twitter like this one just now:

Now, this hasn't been confirmed by Marvel yet, but given Bendis' love to announce the artists he's working with, we're going to guess that this is happening.  I don't care so much about the return of Osborn, but given Neal Adams legendary artist status and his history with the Avengers (Adams penciled the Avengers in the 1960s, particularly some issues of the Kree/Skrull War storyline), this would definitely be a book that everyone should plan on getting.  After Adams' recent work in Batman Odyssey and Dark Horse Presents, I would love to see his take on the New Avengers.

  1. What is Bendis referring to not being a real announcement? Rob Williams being an exclusive? Kinda weak there man.

Neal Adams though on Avengers sounds really cool though…..but it’s Bendis so I’ll sadly skip on it.

  2. Great except for Osborne..so sick of that character; would be fine if they shelved him for a long, long time.

  3. I’m there in spades, although I hope this doesn’t make me wait too much longer for “Batman: Odyssey” #7.
“A TRIP?!?  AFTER A NAP?!? DEATH IS AT YOUR DOOR AND…YOU’RE TAKING A NAP?!?”

  4. I look forward to everyone in the Marvel Universe to have a hairy chest, including the ladies.

  5. I hope that some Marvdel editor has the balls to keep Adams on-target for the issue.  His Batman series @ DC is unreadable.

@TheNextChampion  Sort of a major leap there on that first bit. There’s no indication of that.

  7. Cool to have Neal Adams on the Avengers, but with Bendis writing it? Think I’ll skip it.

  8. @Paul: Well what other announcement was made today?

@TheNextChampion  Did he say he was disappointed in an announcement from today? Did he say he was disappointed in any announcement at all, specifically?

  10. I wonder what happened to Avengers 12.1 with Bryan Hitch.

  11. @Bryce31  It comes out next week.

  12. Let Neal Adams finish Batman Odyssey first.

    Matthew

  13. @Conor

    Oh…

  14. That issue of Avengers with Ant-man going inside the Vision is still one of the best Avengers issues ever. can’t wait to see Neal Adams back on this book, even for one issue.

  15. @Paul I never said he said it was a disappointing announcement. I’m saying he’s trying to boost his ego by saying his announcement is better. It’s a great day for Rob Williams and then he sees one of his co-workers tweet how he has a ‘real’ announcement.

  16. I’m with @icn1983 — I want someone to fall flat on the floor, sleeping.

  17. @TheNextChampion  I’m pretty sure he’s going on about people moaning about his particular announcements regarding the new arcs on Avengers and New Avengers.

Although as with everyone at Marvel, they all have a sense of humour. So more it’s like “you know what that Williams news is awesome news… want some more? WELL – legandary artist Neal Adams is back on Avengers baby!” –something along those lines.

Do you really think the top writer at Marvel is going to try and steal somebody elses thunder (so to speak ha!), no need to jump to negatives

  18. @origamikid  Jumping to negatives is what the internet is based on =D

  19. @origamikid: It’s what Bendis has been doing for year. 🙂

  21. Thor will carry a gun and he”l take time out from beating up frost giants to explain the law of thermodynamics to them before they melt from his lghting strike-

  22. Is anyone else NOT excited for the return of Norman Osborn?
