Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! – S01E10 – 459

Sunday mornings… blah.

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

Comments

  1. why blah?

  2. Out of all the episodes so far this is the one I am least interested in. I am hope to be proven wrong.

  3. Love the design for Marvel. Strikes a nice balance between original Kree, Ulitmate, and doing its own thing. This should be fun. As for the time, well thats what god invented tivo for. 🙂

  4. It’s Episode 15…

  5. @JediShaft  No, it’s not. It’s the 10th episode that will have aired.

  6. Who else thinks its cool that the starting shows the lineup for that episode?

  7. Wow so they are going with The Ultimate design for the good Captain. Sweet, while I prefer the old school Captain Marvel costume the one that Warren Ellis helped co create just screams I AM A ALIEN.

  8. Loved the 50’s science fiction movie feel. Also am a big fan of the way they keep fleshing out the universe. Kree, Skrulls, even introducing Ms. Marvel. This show is great!

  9. Why this epsode named “459”?

  10. @conner (not to sound like a d**k) Before the “Breakout” episode, DisneyXD aired the micro episodes as a marathon of 5 regular ones, making “459” episode 15.

  11. Lovin this show.  I hope it never ends.  Every episode expands the universe.  The thermal view of the giant robot reminded me of Predator.  @DTBrown72, the giant Kree robot is called Sentry 459 (according to wikipedia).

  12. Great ep. Blended the contintuties in the way that I was really hoping. I love how this show cherry picks what works from the various continuties without hesitation. This is the way it should be done. The Ms. Marvel tease at episode end was especially nice. I remain curious how, if at all, Ultimate Spidey is going to tie into this show.

  13. Great ep. Blended the contintuties in the way that I was really hoping. I love how this show cherry picks what works from the various continuties without hesitation. This is the way it should be done. The Ms. Marvel tease at episode end was especially nice. I also like the Iron Giant reference (unless I am reading to much into the scene) early on in the fight. Made me smile. I remain curious how, if at all, Ultimate Spidey is going to tie into this show.

  14. I’ve caught up on the entire series this week and I am loving it. This show just puts a smile on my face. The Ultimate Captain Marvel design looked great animated.

  15. @uwushuwerejosh They weren’t aired as new episodes. We aren’t counting them here.

  16. According to IMDB it Is episode 15.

  17. Oooh, fun! A numbering debate! How comic booky!

I see it differently all over the place. Some tv sites use this numbering, others go with counting the mico ep stuff.

Just a little comment for those who didn’t see the full eps of the micro material. They were indeed full episodes. Not compilations. What Disney/Marvel did for whatever reason was chop them up into segments and air them out of order as micro eps online. So what you saw in the micro eps, was episodes 1-5 chopped and shown out of order. I watched all the micro eps as they aired. Then when I realized that they were actually the first 5 episodes of the series, I went back and watched them in their original form. And they played MUCH better as full, whole episodes.

When the dvd is released, they will be included as the original full episodes. And this will be episode 15.

But I totally get what Conor is saying. This is the 10th ep to actually air as a new episode. It’s all good. We can figure it out.

Just a little wonky from Marvel/Disney’s standpoint. IMO, they shouldn’t have chopped up the ep’s and just aired them as the micro eps. It got us fanboys excited. But it messed with the narrative a good deal. I have a friend who didn’t feel the need to watch the micro stuff, and just started with Breakout. He missed all the build up and character development. And Breakout was mostly action, and he wasn’t too impressed. I told him to go back and check out the actual first 5 episodes, and he enjoyed it a lot more. I don’t get why Disney would hamper themselves that way. I know it’s just a cartoon for kids. But to me, there was a difference. As silly as it may be.

  18. I absolutely love this show. It makes the Marvel fanboy. In me smile to no end. I prefer the Genis Vell version of Captain Marvel; something about that field of stars. Love Hank in this show! And next week…MORE HAWKEYE!!! Yay.

  19. This show is pretty great.

There’s times where I wish it were a bit more polished and classic feeling like the Timm DC stuff. But at the same time, this is it’s own thing with it’s own style. There is a definite sense of fun that the Timm stuff didn’t always have.

  20. This may have been my favorite episode so far. Loved that the 50s sci-fi robot fought the avengers at a drive in theater!
    Where was cap though??

  21. 459 was pretty darn good, I love how they continue to infuse this show with Marvels ever growing History. The Infusion of the mutiple verisons of the characters has lent it to have a very unique feel, while preserving the history and storylines. All I can say is they better not take this show off the air anytime soon, I want to see the Kree /Skrull war, the Secret War and all the other Major Marvel Moments. I also love that they brought Carol Denvers in , so we can se her become Ms. Marvel which would leave it open for a great crossover moment with the Brother Hood of Mutants and possibly the X-Men. How cool would that be ?

  22. This show is very entertaining. I love how The Wasp is the main character; Iron Man has barely been in it!
This version of the Hulk is pretty great too.

  23. @conor  now i get why blah…D’OH!

  24. @conor  fair enough.

  25. This was one of the best eps of this show so far. I think this is easily the best representation of a comic universe in motion ever, live action or otherwise (I dq Batman: TAS because it’s character centric).  All the stoy lines balanced nicely and made it a packed thirty minutes with no filler. All the nods to the ’50s sci-fi era were well placed and never felt like they were bashing you over the head or taking away from the real story.

I’m also in agreement with other’s comments about the show’s takes on Wasp, making someone who could’ve been just the token girl into basically the heart of the team, and Hulk, who not only has the show’s best lines, but an interesting convention with his inner monolouge with Banner.

BTW, as for the number thing, seeing as I pitched my $.02 in: It’s your site. I’m not that kinda geek. I’ll save my persuasive skills and argumentive tactics for getting me laid, as they tend to be needed =].
