January 4, 2017 10:04 am Disclaimer: I'm a huge SW fan and was *really* looking forward to this movie. I saw it a couple of days ago. I think I've just decided I don't like it. In all fairness–as bad movies go it was extremely well made. The writing and characters just fell flat at every turn. It was a good idea for a story though. I think I'm gonna have problems with these EU movies.
January 1, 2017 7:26 am I think Hell or High Water was a perfect movie. It's Pine's best performance-that I know of. Definitely my favorite of the year. Loved Finest Hours too. I can't believe it got made! I really dug Spidey this year. You guys mentioned it a few times on the POTW show throughout the year. That and the Avengers 0. book feel like the old Marvel comics that I miss so much. I highly recommend Rectify from Sundance TV–streaming on Netflix. I think Timeless is a hoot! Thanks again for everything you guys do. Happy New Year!
November 14, 2016 11:41 am Anybody considering seeing this film *absolutely* needs to see it in 3D and IMAX if possible. I can't think of a movie that took better advantage of the format. Stunning!
November 3, 2016 8:54 am I just finished and I really loved this. Daredevil 1&2 and JJ felt like a slog at certain points but I never got bored with Cage. I was even binging at certain points. I thought the music selections were perfect. I really loved how it walked right up to the edge of Blaxploitation Cinema but it never went super-campy or Tarantinoesque. I do wish Cottonmouth had stuck around longer as Mahershala Ali was amazing. Don't even get me started on Rosario Dawson. Great stuff!
October 1, 2016 9:17 pm For what it's worth: I highly recommend Hellboy BPRD 1953 Beyond The Fences. It's daylight, suburban Hellboy drawn by Paolo Rivera. The art is so insane.
August 28, 2016 10:27 pm Awesome show! I always enjoy the listener mail video format. I know you couldn't get to it and this comment is mostly for Josh: The Hellblazer #1 was #prettymuchmyconstantine. Short coat aside-I think Oliver's vision and voice was pretty much spot on and Moritat's art works really well. Could be good times.
August 27, 2016 7:17 pm Tyler's question: I think Fury Max fits the bill. Could be wrong but it's not a Nick Fury I've ever seen.
August 20, 2016 8:49 pm I really enjoyed the conversation. I'm a big fan of Gabe and Corrina. Gabe first appeared on my radar in Parker's Red Hulk–one of my favorite comic runs ever. The section about Kinski got me thinking about Maria Bamford's talking pug in Lady Dynamite and how it seems to be voiced by Werner Herzog.
August 14, 2016 7:43 am This pick had me Chaykin all over. I'll see myself out.
