Once again, PAD is singling out one character in focus, as the team has been scattered after it's titanic battle several months ago. Unfortunately, after several issues of this, the trick is wearing thin. This book's strength was in being an ensemble, and with only a few issues left, the feeling of momentum is lost.
One thing I always liked about this book was the interaction among the team's strong personalities. This time the focus is on Polaris, and while she does get to interact with another strong personality, Quicksilver, the character spends much of her time complaining about her and her team's situation. This is a dangerous thing to do, because her readers might start to echo her and grow just as bitter and disillusioned, and boy I sure did.
The art doesn't help because some of the expressions are too difficult to understand and the layouts do not "read" immediately, blocking what is necessary for understanding the situation, like the policemen's clips falling out of the guns or Quicksilver making a cushion of air with his arm.
Thankfully, there is a bit of a mystery character here, setting up something that could even be a relaunch for the title and the characters. The rebuilding could be just what we need, because at this point, upwards would be a good direction for this title to go in.

I didn’t think this issue was terrible. Lorna getting drunk shows us the rarely portrayed instance of a superhero behaving in an irresponsible, yet human, manner. I found the story a couple of issues ago with Madrox and Layla in Morocco to be superb. It looks like this title is going to be rebooted rather than just cancelled, and that make me happy.
I actually would disagree, I found Peter closing out the arcs of all the individual characters a great send off. It never really happens that way in comics, the series has been a highly story driven, character driven arc series, unlike most comics series. He is really closing the series out and I haven’t felt dissatisfied when I look at the overall series.
