I sometimes forget how pivotal an artist is at bringing a writer’s comic to life. It turns out that Remender hasn’t lost any steam on Uncanny X-Force, the last issue was just hampered by Tocchini’s nigh-unreadable art.

I don’t remember when I’ve been as grateful to see an artist back on a title as I am to see Noto on Uncanny X-Force. His page two alone was worth the price of this book.

But as great as Noto’s art is, Remender’s use of AoA’s Iceman is brilliant. I’d love to see 616 Iceman use his powers in this fashion. I am thrilled that this book seems to be back at the level it was for the first few story arcs, and that they are tying it in to the other X books.

  1. Phil Noto’s work always looks to photograph reliant, as opposed to storytelling to me. Does it change in this issue?

    • I’m also not a fan of photo reliant art, but I don’t remember having an issue with any of his work. It’s certainly not Greg Land level photo-art. It’s definitely the same style he’s been implementing since the beginning of this Uncanny run, so if you didn’t like it then, it’s unlikely that that’s changed.

  2. Really loved deadpool panel and also final fight between AoA Kurt and Bobby. I really do think Phil Noto finally pull it off, I guess he’s not a cover artist anymore and good for him!
