SHAME ON YOU ALL!!!

This book should have more pulls then what it does.  I’m disappointed with you all!

Now that it’s out of my system time for the review.  This issue is continuing a great story of religion and mysticism.  If you haven’t been reading this story you should go back and look for the first two issues.

A quick recap to catch you up, Soloman Kane is a traveling puritan who’s horse is killed by a wolf when he stops some bandits.  Kane is a man who is traveling the world “cleansing” it of evil.  He’s no Punisher, Kane is actually a good man, just bad ass.  He meets up with another traveler in the Black Forest.  While traveling together they find a boy and cut him down.  This leads them to meeting up with the local Lord at his castle.

Fast forward through issue 2 with some plot development and we’re on issue 3.

This issue finally delves into what is really going on with the Lord and the horrible atrocities going on in the Black Forest around his castle.  We also find out what his wife was trying to do in the last.  It’s turning into a really neat story and I’m excited for Kane to dispense some more justice before this is all over with, which should be happening next issue.

I honestly feel that anyone who likes Jonah Hex and Conan will like this book.  Give it a shot, trust me on this.

As for the art in this book.  At first I didn’t think I was going to dig Guevara’s art, but I really enjoy it.  All of the characters look crazed sometimes, but usually when they should.  There is something about a sketchy feeling on this issue that I really enjoy.  I hope he continues the good work.  The colors for this book feel old, which is appropriate since it takes place in the 17th century.

Overall I really liked this issue.  The last one was the plot build up and this was the turning point and reveal and not what I was expecting.  Always nice.

Story: 4 - Very Good

  1. Damn right.

  2. I’m sold. I recently started to explore the Dark Horse stuff (after 15 years of reading comics) and was thiiiiiiiiiiiis close to buying this issue this afternoon. Next week I’ll see if I can pick up all three of the issues released so far.

  3. Soloman Kane is a stone cold mutha. His pimp hand stays strong, and you no he takes no slop. So get out the deepend fools if’n you ate less then thirty minutes ago and Soloman Kane is lifegaurding the party pool.

  4. His pimp hand was pretty awesome in this book.  One other random thing, I did not like the cover to this book.  It looks terrible.
