While I’m still enjoying the slow burn of this series; the way the plot unfolds at a pretty much one detail an issue pace, I feel like it’s something that would read much better in trade, where its plodding plot didn’t require four weeks inbetween reveals.

While the premise and writing is what initially drew me into this title.  It’s now the pop-art style that’s bringing me back.  The story is good, but the art is fantastic.  Dave Johnson’s cover of this particular issue is flawless.  I love the placement of the DC logo, and the title.  Even the barcode works, as Captain Alpha is, indeed, a product in this title.  A hero licensed out to his people.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. I can’t wait to see how this pans out.  I wonder if this is going for the long haul, or if it is just so 12-issue maxi series jont?

  2. I believe it’s an ongoing series.  Though it might end up being tighter, and better focused if they keep it to twelve.

  3. Yeah, I don’t see how they have enough here to go on for years.  They are probably shooting for 12 to 15 if I know anything about how things work.  But I don’t so…

  4. I fell in love with Tomasi’s writing on Nightwing and I love this title as well , Its the anti IREDEEMABLE . in that I mean its building as opposed to throwingyou in after the fall from grace . I actually like this way better than Mr Waid’s approach .
