This issue was awesome. I really can't wait for the next one to see how the JSA will stack up in the end.
A lot of stuff happens in this issue and while I try to maintain spoiler free reviews, I can't contain myself on this one. We finally are seeing some action between Gog and the JSA. The fight breaks out first between the segmented team. Then Sandy lets everyone know that Gog is connecting with our planet. The real problem here is that if he leaves because we don't worship him, he'll destroy earth. That prick, I knew he was gonna be bad news!
I've been hearing people being upset lately with the pace of this book and how this story has gone on too long. I for one, have no issues with this. Johns can take as long as he wants to tell a story as long as he's writing this book. Same for Green Lantern. He just knows how to weave a story in a way that I understand and love. I could compare him to some other DC writers, with this story, but I'll spare you.
The two best moments in this book are hands down the Flash essentially turning into Kingdom Come Flash, which was neat and I'm curious how it pans out, and the moment with Citizen Steel. If Geoff Johns started a book today on this character, I'd be on it all the way. The moment when Gog asked him to kneel and everyone else was being thrown around like rag dolls was amazing. It was one simple word, but it was to a god like being. This only wants me to have more Citizen Steel.
I also really like how they are resolving to draw a lot of these characters like they were from Kingdom Come. Alan Scott's armor looks amazing and shows he means business.
Lastly when Gog is essentially what I call, writing his wrongs, in the end of this book it made me happy. I was a little annoyed with how Damage was acting and the fact that Dr. Midnite was royally screwed not being blind anymore. I was also disappointed that David got hosed on the last page. If you read my review of the Magog one shot, you would know that after reading that, I liked the character. I'm curious to see what happens next.
As for art on this book I really think the flow of the two artists works well together. I enjoy Eaglesham more then Massengill's art, but he still does a damn fine JSA. The colors as usual are bright and vibrant in this book, which always makes me happy when my four colored superheros are bright.
I will continue to love this book as long as Johns is on it, please don't leave! I also have to say that this book just squeezed past Soloman Kane for my pick, if you're not reading that one, read my review on it.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
Mmm. Good stuff, this.
I would love nothing more than for Alan and Jay to remain in their Kingdom Come versions. Integrating exciting elements of possible futures into the main DC timeline is a good thing in my mind. It makes the Elseworlds stuff more potent if you feel that they sometimes come within a hair’s breadth of actually happening.
