So. Another new Justice League.
We've been here before, and recently. Half of Cry for Justice was just getting that specific band of superheroes together in order to tell that story and now James Robinson spends this issues doing that exact same thing again. Most of the story revolves around Donna Troy deciding that she needs to remain a superhero and she needs to get a new Justice League together.
I know this is a necessary story to get things moving to the next step. I know that Robinson had to do this after, apparently, decimating the team he created for Cry for Justice. I just didn't want to read this story again.
There were some nice character moments. I enjoyed Donna Troy's conversation with Dick Grayson. I'm looking forward to him being back in the League. Dick and Donna's dialogue played nicely and Damien's insistence that he join the League was interesting. I hope that this actually becomes a story point and wasn't just a one-line joke.
I was less than thrilled about Cyborg and Firestar joining the League but in this volume of JLA, if you don't like the current roster, just wait ten issues and you'll get another one.
When it comes to the art, having three inkers over Bagley didn't do anyone any favors. The best pages were Mon-El's fight with the Atomic Skull. Pete Pantazis' colors during that sequence were great and even though it was a little weird for Mon-El to be smiling after helping destroy a section of Metropolis, his joy at using his powers was nice to see.
In all, it was disappointing overall. I really wanted this to be better and I think it will be soon. Even if I didn't like Cry for Justice, I'll stick with this run of Robinson's a little bit longer.
Art: 3 - Good
