Oh, man, these Marvel “HER…” books centering around female characters have to be stopped.

HERalds is a mess of a book.  I feel like a lot of that is on Zonjic’s shoulders.  I hate the way Cyclops looks in this title.  While that’s a stylistic problem, and not a talent issue, I’m willing to let that go.  But there’s also the weird physics of Emma’s eyes being visible even when her hair is in front of it.  I might have bought it if she was in diamond form, but she’s in regular old flesh.  He also seems to have all the female characters (so, you know, nearly all of the characters in this book) constantly…grimacing?  Their mouths are always open, and their teeth are always showing, even when they’re clearly not supposed to be smiling.  It’s very offputting.  There’s also some attempts to use some creative panel layouts, and they just don’t work.  Don’t even talk to me about the Brand vs. the giant lizard page.  Yuck.

Storywise, some of the beats are off, but this isn’t awful, just mediocre.
