So, I'm reading Green Lantern, minding my own business, and suddenly I've been propelled into a product placement piece for the upcoming Green Lantern Animated Series. Flashy toyetic space-ship? Check. Mention of new character Aya? Check.

Otherwise, the story was passable and featured some great character moments (other than a moment where the four human lanterns choose other color rings featuring Hal telling everyone to choose their color, then demanding John take a different color because clearly Hal knows better. Awkward). Green Lantern mostly feels like a rote, by-the-numbers exercise at the moment, but the banter between Hal and Guy remains entertaining.

The art was the best part of the comic, honestly. I like Doug Mahnke's work and that hasn't changed, though the purple bandana on John's compassion outfit is a bit...ill-advised.

All-together, this was a fun read with a few questionable story choices. I'll stick around for the end of War of the Green Lanterns, but I'm honestly not sure how much longer I'll be picking this up.
