I’ve never read an issue of GI Joe.  I have the Cobra trade on my shelf, but, despite the excellent reviews I’ve read, I haven’t picked it up.  I grabbed this issue for one reason only: Ben Templesmith art.  And, having read the issue, the Templesmith art is the only good thing about this comic.

Andreyko’s writing here is awful.  It’s glimpses of horrendous cliches wrapped in totally asanine dialog.  It really reads like a middle school student’s fan fic.  I lost count of the amounts of time I cringed.

Templesmith’s art, on the other hand, is gorgeous here.  I’ve missed his work since the last issue of “Fell”, and this was top notch.  It’s just a shame it was accompanied by this shell of a story.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 5 - Excellent
